The wedding day

Marriage is an important event for all those who believe in married life and is among the most important events in the life of every individual who believes in this union. I live in a region of Southern Italy, Puglia, where this party is really special and everything is a little emphasized, sometimes extreme. But this is a bizarre feature of ours that is so popular all over the world.

Il matrimonio è un evento importante per tutti coloro che credono nella vita di coppia ed è tra gli eventi più importanti nella vita di ogni individuo che crede in questa unione. Io vivo in una regione del Sud Italia, la Puglia, in cui questa festa è davvero speciale e tutto è un pò enfatizzato, a volte estremizzato. Ma questa è una nostra bizzarra caratteristica che piace tanto in tutto il mondo.

The wedding is an event that is prepared months before when it is time to decide on the reception hall. It may seem strange, perhaps exaggerated, but I can guarantee you that it is not at all easy to find some dates available, especially during the summer season ... it is almost impossible on weekends ... as long as you have not booked a couple of years in advance . It is in our mentality to get married in the summer to be able to enjoy warm temperatures, good weather and show off elegant clothes. Depending on the availability of the room, the date of the ceremony in the Church is chosen.

Il matrimonio è un evento che si prepara mesi prima quando è tempo di decidere la sala ricevimenti. Può sembrare strano, magari esagerato, ma vi posso garantire che non è affatto semplice trovare disponibili alcuni date , specialmente durante la stagione estiva... è quasi impossibile nei weekend... sempre che non abbiate prenotato con un paio d'anni di anticipo. E' nella nostra mentalità sposarsi d'estate per poter godere di temperature calde, bel tempo e sfoggiare abiti eleganti. A seconda delle disponibilità della sala, si sceglie la data della cerimonia in Chiesa.

Il passo successivo è la scelta degli abiti: se per l'uomo può essere un passo relativamente impegnativo, per la donna è quasi proibitivo... Giornate trascorse senza successo girando i negozi della città e dei paesi limitrofi, in cerca dell'abito perfetto, quello che ti fa scendere la lacrima quando l'hai indossato per la prima volta. Step successivo è la scelta degli accessori: scarpe, bracciali, orecchini e così via... un processo che può durare per settimane!

I giorni prima della fatidica data sono quelli più stressanti: gli sposi devono ultimare una serie di dettagli tra cui pratiche di matrimonio, incontri con fioraio e fotografo, incontro con il sacerdote che celebrerà la messa, disposizioni e addobbi presso la sala ricevimenti... Non è proprio una passeggiata. Ma come se non bastasse, bisogna affrontare il giorno più importante.

La sveglia dell'orologio suona circa alle del mattino per la donna, orario in cui si presentano a casa alcune figure come la parrucchiera, l'estetista, la truccatrice... Professioniste che si occuperanno anche di cifrare l'immagine della mamma della sposa ed altre donne di famiglia. Sembra una passeggiata ma vi garantisco che è una gran fatica. Alle ore 9 del mattino tutto deve essere pronto per l'arrivo del fotografo e le prime foto di rito in casa con la famiglia e gli amici. Alle ore 11, lo sposo è già in chiesa e la donna si avvia accompagnata dal papà.

L'ingresso in Chiesa è uno dei momenti più toccanti e qui c'è il saluto del papà alla figlia e l'incontro con il futuro marito, il tutto accompagnato da una marcia nunziale suonata dall'organista. La celebrazione delle messa è una serie di emozioni che si susseguono sino al momento del matrimonio e delle promesse degli sposi. Qui si raggiunge il momento più alto e sentito dell'intero lungo periodo di preparazione della cerimonia.

Leaving the church is a moment of liberation and relaxation that the guests rejoice with the throwing of rice, a symbol of prosperity and fruitful life. After a series of photos, everyone heads to the reception room to start the celebrations consisting of a very long lunch which is alternated with wild dancing to help slow digestion. At the end of the evening the tension is now dissolved, everyone is relaxed and with a full stomach and you can enjoy the moment of cutting the cake, a symbol that the party is coming to an end and is the last wish of the day. A long and exhausting day, beautiful and unforgettable. This is the wedding in Puglia.

L'uscita dalla chiesa è momento quasi di liberazione e di rilassamento che gli invitati gioiscono con il lancio del riso, simbolo di prosperità e vita feconda. Dopo una serie di foto, tutti si dirigono alla sala ricevimento per dare inizio ai festeggiamenti costituti da un lunghissimo pranzo a cui ci si alterna con balli sfrenati per aiutare la lenta digestione. A fine serata la tensione ormai è sciolta, tutti sono rilassati e con la pancia piena e ci si può godere il momento del taglio della torta, simbolo che la festa volge a termine ed è l'ultimo augurio della giornata. Una giornata lunga ed estenuante, bellissima ed indimenticabile. Questo il è il matrimonio in Puglia.
