I am increasingly convinced that the beauty of the great works of the past should teach a lot to those involved in design today. Personally, I have always asked myself the question: how was it possible to build a castle like the one in Barletta about 1000 years ago? These are complex building works that have resisted over the centuries without any failure, despite the fact that the castle walls have suffered severe assaults during the previous battles.

The extension of the castle is hundreds of square meters, surrounded by a large moat, the first defensive weapon of medieval fortresses. In the past this moat was also filled with water, we are just a few meters from the sea, and it was practically impregnable.

In the evening the castle is truly wonderful, the lights illuminate the outer walls and the moat flawlessly. It's a nice walk along the entire perimeter, surrounded by a green and relaxing area especially in the evening hours. Observing the castle sitting comfortably on a park bench... The day can easily end here. Nothing more can be asked of life today!

Sono sempre più convinto che la bellezza delle grandi opere del passato dovrebbe insegnare molto a chi oggi si occupa di progettazione. Personalmente mi sono sempre posto la domanda: come è stato possibile costruire un castello come quello di Barletta circa 1000 anni fa? Si tratta di opere edilizie complesse e che hanno resistito nel corso dei secoli senza alcun cedimento, nonostante le mura del castello abbiano subito duri colpi d'assal durante le battaglie precedenti.

L'estensione del castello è di centinaia di metri quadrati, circondato da un grande fossato, la prima arma difensiva delle fortezze medievale. In passato questo fossato era anche riempito d'acqua, ci troviamo a pochi metri dal mare, ed è stato praticamente inespugnabile.

Di sera il castello è davvero meraviglioso, le luci illuminano le mura esterne ed il fossato in modo ineccepibile. È una bella passeggiata lungo tutto il perimetro, circondato da una zona verdeggiante e rilassante specialmente nelle ore serali. Osservare il castello seduto comodamente su una panchina del parco... La giornata può tranquillamente finire qui. Nulla di più si può chiedere alla vita oggi!
