Market Friday : Getting food stuffs

Going to the market today was hectic. I hope you are all doing good friends. I can't believe the prices of items has hiked that much. I was amused by hearing that items have added value in just few weeks. I wonder what our government are doing concerning this issue.

Our economy is not growing at all, instead the poor are suffering more. Just went with my friend to get some food stuffs at the market, our initial plan was to get chicken, noodles and plantain but getting there, the prices turned down our plan.

This is unlike us. We usually do have sufficient and affordable food stuffs but for the past few months, we have been experiencing a lot that cannot even be imagined.

Wanted to get plantain at our normal rate of #300 but it now #700. The seller said it is not her fault so we either buy it or leave it. I was speechless at what she said. I never thought that could come from a seller to her customers.

On getting to where we do buy chicken, we were told it's now #1800 instead of #1600 per kilo of chicken. We had no choice than to get meat despite the amount, it was still affordable compared to other stuffs.

We got the meat for a dollar and proceeded to convenience store where we got our noodles.

We also bought body spray for my friend and the smell was nice. Its name is nice and the smell is great too. It's called 101, more like my chemistry course code (CHM 101).

I saw a lot of surprises today at the market and I hope the government would attend to it.

Wow so the poor chicken was cheaper than the fresh veggies?

Non of them is cheap. The only thing is that you can get a small quantity of meat but you can only get half kilo of chicken, that's why we chose meat over chicken.

Veggies didn't grow well this year in my community so it's expensive. Too many erosion here spoilt a lot of things

Ah that is a shame.
Do you have a small plot of land where you could start to grown you own veggies, even the easy one like pumpkins...?

(Edited)

I wanted to buy one but I couldn't afford $220 so I had a change in plan until I get the money and since I'm studying agriculture at school, I guess it would be easier for me.

Well atleast by the time you can afford the plot of land, you will know what you're doing and be able to grow lots of things in abundance!

Goodluck to you!

That is terrible. I see you got the noodles, perhaps you can find some veggies to put in with them to make the meal more substantial. It is like this, the world over. Everything is going up and up, every time I go to the store. Our world is in such bad shape right now, but, let's slow down and do what we can. Do you have a tiny patch where you can plant at home? Even if you plant a few things, it will be something you can look forward to. Squashes, beans? I hope that things look up for you in the meantime.

love the concept of #MarketFriday and how our cultures differ and then again, how much they are alike. Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages. Along with the fact of what is normal for where you live? these are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I had hoped that posting here will familiarize you with the world around you just a little bit more. Viewing it from a more personal level as opposed to the newsworthy level gives me a better understanding of the people and a view that is often not seen on National television. I am so happy to see you here! I hope you have a fabulous day! Hive on!!
