I have commented before in my publications in this community, that I acquired the art of drinking coffee since my childhood, I do not know if it was right from my grandmother to give me to drink, but from there I started my first practices and rituals of how to drink a good cup of coffee, I think I learned from the best, my grandmother Katty, as I grew up, I discovered other varieties of coffee and ways to prepare it, I learned to drink cold coffee for the first time, I thought that the cold drink was disgusting, until I decided to try a drink suggested by my friend, Frappucchino style with oreo cookies, simply exquisite, those who have had the opportunity to taste it know what I mean.

At home, I always prepare black coffee in the mornings, latte or coffee with milk in the afternoons and a Guayoyoyo from time to time. About a few months ago, I got the idea of perfecting my art of preparing coffee based drinks, and I am updating my practices and I am learning more about it every day, I hope someday to become a personal Barista for my family, that they ask me for their favorite drinks and are satisfied with it.

I hope that my intervention is to your liking, excellent weekend. Many cups of coffee to all.

Someone also told me one could prepare different varieties of coffee by themselves and I am hoping to try that too. I may look out on YouTube on how to prepare coffee by myself and would try it out. You got a beautiful routine from your Grandmother from childhood and the way I read your comment, your love for coffee has been from childhood and it's something you have keep up with till now. That's amazing to read from you.

In truth, in our Latin culture, coffee has been drunk since we were children, so the taste for a delicious cup of coffee came almost from the time we were born.

I leave you a delicious cup of coffee for this Saturday afternoon.☕

It's very true, in a figurative sense, we were born drinking coffee, that's why we love it so much, I love the bond we have.
Excellent cup and sweet or dessert. I would gladly eat them, greetings

dear what is a guayoyoyo? that caught my eye

0

It is a very Clarito coffee, we Venezuelans prepare it that way, I do it in two ways, the first in a strainer, I add a small amount of coffee and strain it, the product is a Clarito coffee. The other way, after making very pure coffee, the coffee already used, I boil it with water and the product of this cooking, It is a light brown, here we call it Guayoyo. I take it in the afternoons.
I hope your doubt is clarified

A guayoyo is to Venezuelans what an americano is to Italians and in coffee culture in general.

so if i gonto latin america, they would understand if i order guayoyo?

0

I think guayoyo is a Venezuelan thing. Here's a fun fact: Chinese restaurants offer guayoyo literally on the menu here in Venezuela, haha. They never write americano. Guayoyo is cheaper than espresso because you use less coffee. In fact, the original recipe says that you should make the espresso and add hot water; to make a guayoyo, you can simply add more water from the beginning. Most coffee shops in Latin America will offer americano or lungo (a bit stronger than guayoyo) as an alternative to espresso, which is stronger and comes in a smaller cup as well.

oh wow. i'm learning a lot. so taste wise, i'm assuming guayoyo is mild bit still have that coffee flavor. after all, it was made after taking out espresso.

0

avatar

Yes and no 😁 You can brew some espresso in your moka pot and then add hot water until you reach the desired intensity. Or you can simply add the amount of water you would use for 15 grams of coffee, but add only 8 grams of coffee, for example. In the latter case, the coffee brews as guayoyo at once and no more hot water needs to be added.

It is a Venezuelan saying, to order a super clear coffee.

Becoming a personal family barista sounds great! Learning something new about coffee is the best time to advance in your coffee brewing practices!

In my family we don’t consume latte or cappuccino at home, so I don’t have the stimulation to learn creating these drinks with milk.

Best wishes and good luck with your home barista experience!

My family would really appreciate it if I become a great Barista. I always like to investigate, learn something good related to coffee and its preparations.
We are coffee fans, I like that, and the way to taste it, everyone chooses the right one for their style.

Thanks for your good wishes. Greetings from Venezuela

I would say, that the first time I tried coffee was amazing. I was never a fan of coffee before, not until I decided to try it out for the first time which was last year. The truth is, I fell in love right after sipping the first drop into my mouth. The taste lured me to wanting more of it. I never knew coffee could be so sweet and tasty especially when milk is added to it.

Ever since then, I have always bought a roll which is ten sachets and it has been a habit to drink coffee. I wrote about how I changed my time of drinking coffee from night to morning and it keeps me active and boosts my productivity for that day. So, my first time tasting coffee was heavenly 😋

That's sweet! I've trying to remember my first time trying coffee. I just can't get that memory. I guess I was too young--and too young to be allowed a cup of coffee as well, haha--, but I think it must've been a cup of cow's milk latte with a little sugar and a pinch of salt because that's the way they prepare it for children in my father's town. It's funny that you get your coffee in sachets; so nice. I've never seen it that way around here so far.

You have only been drinking coffee for a short time, but I am sure it is already for life. There are so many ways to do it, and it provokes so many sensations, that it becomes impossible to take it out of our lives.

I don't really remember the first time I drank my first sip of coffee, in my family it's more of a tradition than a habit. I remember my mom always told us that a sip of coffee first thing in the morning is good for warming up the body and throat.

For me it is a great drink that has remained embedded in the history of my life, but not everyone prepares coffee in the same way, each family adds their personal stamp, for example in my house we like to add cinnamon or anise to give it a special touch and I guarantee that it is delicious, just like this one I show you below:

i tried it first when i was still in high school. i didn't like it. i could not understand why it was bitter yet people love it. i drank on a very few occasion here and then but never enjoyed it. when i started working, i tried coffee from that coffee shop with a mermaid, they were so sweet and i liked it. i drank more and more and my taste for coffee deepened. it has evolved. now, i add milk to my coffee but no sugar. i enjoy it that way now. cheers to more coffee!

I cannot track so far away in the past when I first tried some coffee, so it would be impossible to say if it was passion from the beginning. Just kidding, I think I’m not that old yet… 😂

But let’s think a little bit.

My first encounters with coffee were when I was about 16 or 17. Although we had an old amateurs’ espresso machine, I did not drink coffee from it. I started drinking 3 in 1 (Nescafé, creamer and sugar) because it was sweeter and easier to consume by my younger soul. 😁

Of course, back then there wasn’t great variety of fancy beans from all around the world. Actually, there were only two or three brands of coffee, so it wasn’t very appealing at all.

After some time, I started consuming espresso coffee and bit by bit switched to sugar free coffee. This was the time when some brands started importing some better quality coffee at higher prices, of course!

I started seeking for something more interesting about 8-9 year ago maybe when I first tried Specialty coffee. It was one bag of beans, just once or twice… The price was just too high for me. But days passed and I started buying better coffee more regularly - at least once a month. Now it is the only coffee I buy and it is great! I love the world of fruity, funky and all the different flavors that can be found in this precious crop!

It is great to read this, your initiation in the art of coffee, little by little you were perfecting it. Since a few months ago, I have tried coffee without sugar, I liked the taste it leaves on my palate, sugar takes away the real taste of coffee, since I felt better the taste of coffee, I drink it without sugar in the mornings to enhance its flavor.

Sugar really steals the great notes which can be found in good coffee! And you are not able to enjoy its natural sweetness. Good coffee is never overly bitter!

Thanks for stopping by!

(Nescafé, creamer and sugar)

I guess everyone has a past 🤣

I remember the first time I tried Nescafé. I was a teenager and loved the aroma and flavor of that latte, but Gosh a stomachache was killing me 5 minutes later. They use heavy milk or something similar. I just can't.

The excellent quality varies from one brand to another and that affects the price. With time I have learned that all the processing of coffee until it reaches its commercial presentation is really an art.

Every step in coffee producing, roasting and then brewing is detrimental about the quality of the final cup. It is very complex task, but I think there are a great variety of good brands and roasters that deliver you tasty beans.

To be honest, I don't remember if I liked coffee from the first time I drank it, since this is the image that has been with me for as long as I can remember. Coffee and morning bread is part of my identity, it is in my veins and I could say that it was what helped form my character. I don't remember it, but I'm sure I must have liked it as much as I like that precious dark liquid now.

I understand you perfectly, so much so that I identify with you, coffee runs through our veins and is part of our identity and character that we have today.
I give you a technique so that you can remember that moment, prepare a cup of coffee similar to the one they gave you, inhale the smell for several minutes, Breathing slowly with your eyes closed, try to imagine yourself in the house where you were in your childhood, You should try to relax and concentrate well, maybe you will remember that moment. I can't pinpoint the exact age, nor how much time has passed, but I do remember that I started drinking coffee when I used to go on vacation to my maternal grandmother's house. I have stored in my mind with a lot of nostalgia those summer afternoons listening to the radio and drinking our cup of coffee.
Coffee and sweets were my grandmothers favorite things, they brought a satisfied smile to her face. I think she would only share her coffee with me....
Then when she came back home she would stop drinking it because my mom thought I was too little to drink so much coffee. But then July would come again, and with it the afternoons of novels and coffee.

Hi, coffee lovers!

image.png

image.png

.
I think I loved coffee from the very beginning, but I just can't remember.
.
It must've been a cup of latte with a little sugar and a pinch of salt, I'm sure, as this was the way they prepared it in my father's town. It must've been, then, that kind of gentle soft drink far from the unsweetened espresso that I enjoy every day now. My initiation to a strong cortado (un marron fuerte, similar to macchiato but not the same, as a marrón has more milk than a macchiato) was a thing of my grandmother's... Did I like it? Oh yes. I loved it. It came with a buttered bread bun. It all happened behind my mother's back, haha.

Today as I organized my spices, gracefully next to my witch's cup, I thought of my grandmother. The past was always better, less complicated times--our mind lies to us with this common place and we let it--. Coffee brewed in the last corner of the house, in the small, dark, windowless kitchen, which had only one door connecting it to the dining room. My grandmother could easily have had a copper cauldron there and a straw broom. It was just the right ambiance. A black cat? Checked! He was Bonito (something like "Pretty Boy" in English). I often think of her and that old house when I have my morning coffee on a quiet Sunday like today, when I have the time to organize my spices while I drink my large espresso.

I also have the habit of adding a pinch of salt to my coffee with milk, the sweet and salty flavor is exquisite, accompanied by a good slice of bread, it sounds like heaven.
Our grandmothers were composed to transmit to us their valuable teachings about coffee, the day begins with a good cup of coffee.

Excellent Monday of conversation coffee lovers.

On this occasion I want to talk about the first time I drank coffee. To tell you the truth I don't remember when was the first time I had my first cup of coffee, since where I live it is customary to drink coffee from a very young age, unlike in European and Anglo-Saxon countries. Here the culture is very rooted in coffee, it is linked to every expression of daily life.

What I do remember when I first drank coffee is that it was a very strong drink, but I liked it very much, since my body received a shock of energy and encouragement in one blow, after a while I got used to the strong taste and it was like drinking any normal drink.

That was my experience with the first sips of coffee. I look forward to reading you with your comment about the first cup of coffee you had.

Have a great day with lots of coffee.☕

Our culture is linked to drinking coffee at an early age, since I was little I also started with a Clarita cup of coffee, my grandmother boiled the grounds to give us the product of that coffee, I became stronger as I grew older.

You had a one-time initiation, it is fascinating to taste and smell the freshly brewed strong coffee, it completely envelops me and relaxes me.

guayoyo.jpg

Good morning, friends of @cinnccf. Today answering this question I went to the past and I think I always liked coffee, because in my country they start giving coffee to children from a very young age, even as babies.

It is common in the afternoon coffee to give them bread dipped in coffee, it is usually the Andean bread, semi sweet bread seasoned with a touch of spices including anise, it is soft and very rich.

Yesterday I had bought, one of these breads to accompany that rich afternoon coffee and thinking about the question I said to myself what I stopped liking at some point was the guayoyo, a very clear coffee and I definitely like it with its strong and defined flavor.

The famous coffee with bread cannot be missing in Venezuelan homes, this is a custom and tradition in many homes. In my case I still maintain it.
I share your taste for the way of drinking strong and defined coffee, it is, from my point of view, the best way to appreciate the taste and smell of coffee, it is exquisite, before drinking coffee, First I inhale its smell, after I get intoxicated with its smell, I begin to taste it.

Once you go black, you never go back!

Growing up in Jamaica, tea was the 'cure all'— whether it was hot milo, cocoa, black tea, cerasse, peppermint, or any hot bush tea.
There was Instant Coffee, which was reserved for my dad, and I was discouraged from trying it.

However, in my early twenties, I worked at a hotel and the aroma enticed me to try coffee. At first, I was addicted to frappuccinos, and I gradually tried other coffee beverages like cappuccinos and lattes.
Eventually, I gave up milk and sugar, and now, I have fully acquired the taste of coffee, and I only drink my coffee black every morning:)))

Oh my! Hahaha

Well, I must say it's true. I've been told that proverb applies to...

Cats! Once you have a black cat, you never go back! Haha.

Looking good! And that's a nice mug; it goes with the vintage air of your narrowboat.

The first time I had coffee was when I was a little girl, I had always seen my aunt take coffee every morning and I was curious about this. I finally decided to satisfy my curiosity and taste the coffee but it was not nice and I kept wondering how my aunt could take this sort of thing everyday.

Over time my love for it grew maybe as a result of age or taking a different coffee.

My coffee maker gives me so much joy and I love the sound it makes when making the coffee and the aroma that comes out of it when making the coffee.
