(ESP-ENG) Judy Jeane, The Young Woman from the 50's - Digital Paint
Hace unos días me encontraba viendo un documental de los años 50's, en donde se hablaba de los hechos y personajes más destacados de la cultura popular de esa época, cuando la inspiración me llegó.
Para ese momento, mis pensamientos estaban rodeados por el estilo de la esa década, y la verdad necesitaba drenar todo ello en una ilustración que representara lo que pasaba por mi mente.
Fue así como nació este personaje, fuertemente influenciada por Marilyn Monroe, a quién decidí llamar Judy Jeane.
A few days ago I was watching a documentary about the 50's, where they talked about the most important events and characters of the popular culture of that time, when the inspiration came to me.
By that time, my thoughts were surrounded by the style of that decade, and the truth was that I needed to drain it all into an illustration that represented what was going through my mind.
That's how this character was born, strongly influenced by Marilyn Monroe, who I decided to call Judy Jeane.
Step by Step:
Lo primero que dibujé fue, como siempre, un esqueleto rústico y feo de mi personaje en el programa de dibujo "Paint Tool Sai".
The first thing I drew was, as always, a rustic and ugly skeleton of my character in the drawing program "Paint Tool Sai".
Luego, definí los detalles de Judy. Como la forma de su cabello, la posición de su rostro, brazos y piernas, además de su vestuario.
Then, I defined Judy's details. Like the shape of her hair, the position of her face, arms and legs, as well as her wardrobe.
Y luego, decidí mejorar y definir por completo las líneas del personaje, realizando el line art final para empezar a colorear por completo la ilustración.
And then, I decided to improve and define completely the lines of the character, making the final line art to start coloring the whole illustration.
Para el coloreado de esta ilustración, quise jugar con una iluminación y sombras específicas. Quería realizar con el color un efecto de luz, y que pareciera que Judy se encontraba en un estudio mientras le hacían una sesión de fotos con dos tipos de iluminación: una fría y otra cálida. Y para ello decidí usar el color amarillo y azul enfocado en su cuerpo y definir las sombras a partir de dicha base.
For the coloring of this illustration, I wanted to play with specific lighting and shadows. I wanted to create a light effect with the color, and make it look like Judy was in a studio while she was having a photo session with two types of lighting: one cold and the other warm. And for this I decided to use the yellow and blue color focused on her body and define the shadows from that base.
Para finalizar, coloreé por completo el fondo de color vino tinto, visibilizando a su vez el resplandor de los focos de luz en las esquinas izquierda y derecha del lienzo. También decidí colocar mi firma cerca de Judy.
To finish, I completely colored the background in red wine color, making visible the glow of the light bulbs in the left and right corners of the canvas. I also decided to place my signature near Judy.
Con esto, doy finalizado mi publicación del día de hoy. Estoy super orgulloso de este dibujo, y la verdad muero por saber sus opiniones. Me gustó mucho el proceso de crear un personaje inspirado en la cultura popular de los 50’s y en la mismísima Marilyn Monroe, fue muy divertido.
With this, I'm ending my post for today. I'm super proud of this drawing, and I'm dying to know your opinions. I really enjoyed the process of creating a character inspired by the popular culture of the 50's and Marilyn Monroe herself, it was a lot of fun.
No suelo jugar mucho con los colores al momento de ilustrar un nuevo trabajo y la verdad es una manera de colorear que me encanta, considero es muy creativa y divertida, por lo que intentaré salir más seguido de mi zona de confort y jugar con más ambientes en donde pueda usar diferentes variaciones para el color y las sombras.
I don't usually play much with colors when illustrating a new work and the truth is a way of coloring that I love, I consider it is very creative and fun, so I will try to get out of my comfort zone more often and play with more environments where I can use different variations for color and shadows.
Sin más que agregar, espero les haya encantado tanto como a mí y por favor recuerden tomar mucha agua.

Nice work here. I love how you transitioned from messy to perfect lineart. The pose looks great and the overall look is giving a vintage vibe.
Just a friendly suggestion. A white dot on both of her eyes as highlights will make them more realistic. To be honest it still looks good without it👌.
