Looking back at my life before HIVE is a good reminder of how much things has changed and why I should keep pushing for more and not give up.

I got introduced to this HIVE platform last year September by my good friend and course mate @starstrings01. Life before then was just a normal one with me trying every means to find meaning and a place to fit in.

Conocí esta plataforma HIVE en septiembre del año pasado gracias a mi buen amigo y compañero de curso @starstrings01. Antes de eso, mi vida era normal y trataba de encontrar un sentido y un lugar para encajar.

• A Platform to write and express myself freely / Una plataforma para escribir y expresarme libremente

I recall years back in my Junior High school, I always loved writing because it was my beautiful way of expression. I remember writing inspiring words gotten from books on every front cover of my school notes and at the back pages.

Recuerdo que hace años, en la escuela secundaria, siempre me gustó escribir porque era mi hermosa forma de expresión. Recuerdo que escribía palabras inspiradoras sacadas de los libros en todas las portadas de mis apuntes escolares y en las últimas páginas.

Growing up, I was more of a Melancholic (temperament). I had this perfect image of Life in my head as a perfectionist but I most times felt people around me couldn’t relate and this made me an introvert. I had a lot to say to people but I was shy and always loved keeping to myself. My head then, if opened was like Pandora box. The only way for me to clearly express myself then was in writing. I wrote debate topics for most inter-school competition and story lines for the drama club but never participated in anyone myself.

Cuando crecí, era más bien melancólica (temperamento). Tenía esta imagen perfecta de la vida en mi cabeza como perfeccionista, pero la mayoría de las veces sentía que la gente a mi alrededor no podía relacionarse con ella y esto me convirtió en una introvertida. Tenía mucho que decir a la gente pero era tímida y siempre me gustaba mantenerme al margen. Mi cabeza entonces, si se abría era como la caja de Pandora. La única forma que tenía de expresarme con claridad era la escritura. Escribía temas de debate para la mayoría de los concursos intercolegiales y argumentos para el club de teatro, pero nunca participé en ninguno.

I sometimes wished I had opened up to people and told them how I truly felt, I was always scared of other outcomes that I preferred just keeping to myself. I remember writing storybooks about some of the crush I had back in school and my many fantasies. Yeah, I was very intelligent and handsome so I got lots of attention from females even my seniors.

A veces deseaba haberme abierto a la gente y decirles lo que sentía de verdad, pero siempre tenía miedo de otros resultados y prefería reservarme. Recuerdo haber escrito libros de cuentos sobre algunos de los enamoramientos que tuve en la escuela y mis muchas fantasías. Sí, era muy inteligente y guapo, así que recibía mucha atención de las mujeres, incluso de las de mi último año.

Writing has always been a talent I had but without a platform like HIVE to freely express myself. I remember having to do writing competitions with my friend who is also a very good content writer few years back.

Escribir siempre ha sido un talento que tenía, pero sin una plataforma como HIVE para expresarme libremente. Recuerdo haber tenido que hacer concursos de escritura con mi amigo, que también es un muy buen escritor de contenidos, hace unos años.

Recently, before meeting Hive, I did some writing side jobs for people but all was without the sense of satisfaction that HIVE brings. I mean, all just felt not good enough and I was hungry for more.

Since Last year September, meeting HIVE has given my writings a proper definition and platform to reach more people and air my voice.

• Living independently/ Vivir con independencia

Before meeting HIVE, I am an Engineering student here in my University slapped here and there with unimaginable bills to pay.

Antes de conocer a HIVE, soy un estudiante de Ingeniería en mi Universidad abofeteado aquí y allá con facturas inimaginables que pagar.

Fending for myself and getting all my necessary needs was not an easy one. I most times had to depend on my parent which always gave me concerns.

No era fácil valerse por sí mismo y satisfacer todas mis necesidades. La mayoría de las veces tenía que depender de mis padres, lo que siempre me preocupaba.

Our education system here in the country doesn’t support work and schooling simultaneously. We run classes daily from 9am – 6pm and most times face transportation issues so we basically spend all day in school.

Nuestro sistema educativo aquí en el país no permite trabajar y estudiar simultáneamente. Tenemos clases diarias de 9 a 18 horas y la mayoría de las veces tenemos problemas de transporte, por lo que básicamente pasamos todo el día en la escuela.

Without my earning here on HIVE, I wonder how life would have gone by. Many students have resulted in gambling, fraudulent activities, prostitution and many other illicit activities.

Words fail me right now. I don’t even know where to start thinking how things would have been, how I would cope especially on days when it was so hard.

• Without HIVE in my life, I won’t have a wonderful and promising platform to express myself in terms of writing.

Maybe I will still be that young man hungry for more with nothing in sight. I’d just keep hoping and one-day stop honing my writing skills.
Through HIVE, I have developed my writing skills and in turn impact lives which is the primary aim of living.

• Finally, life here in my University isn’t easy to go by without money with many lecture materials to buy, practical fees, university’s unnecessary levies and many more.

Por último, la vida aquí en mi universidad no es fácil de llevar sin dinero, con muchos materiales de clase que comprar, tasas prácticas, gravámenes innecesarios de la universidad y muchos más.

Thanks to HIVE, I can shoulder some of my expenses without depending on others and this commands respect.
