Київ. Пам’ятник засновникам на Дніпрі – Kyiv. Monument to the forebears on Dnipri

Я вже писав про пам'ятник засновникам міста Києва, що знаходиться у центрі, на Майдані Незалежності. Однак у столиці є і старіший, але не менш відомий пам'ятний знак Кію, Щеку, Хориву та їхній сестрі Либіді.

I have already written about the monument to the founders of the city of Kyiv, which is located in the center, on Independence Square. However, in the capital there is an older, but no less famous memorial to Kyi, Shchek, Khoriv and their sister Lybidi.

Споруджено цей монумент було у 1982 році на честь 1500-річчя заснування Києва. Пам'ятник виконаний з кованої міді у вигляді плоского човна, в якому стоять постаті легендарних фундаторів великого міста. Архітектором монумента є Фещенко Н.М., а скульптором Бородай В.З.

This monument was erected in 1982 in honor of the 1500th anniversary of the founding of Kyiv. The monument is made of wrought copper in the form of a flat boat, in which there are figures of the legendary founders of the big city. Біля підніжжя пам'ятника знаходиться басейн, довжина човна – 9 метрів, висота фігур – 4,3 метри. Біля монумента знаходиться Наводницький парк, крім того, поруч розташована станція метро «Дніпро».

At the foot of the monument is a swimming pool, the length of the boat - 9 meters, the height of the figures - 4.3 meters. Near the monument is Navodnytsky Park, in addition, near the metro station "Dnipro".

В руках Кий тримає натягнутий лук, Щек і Хорив тримають списи, а Либідь стоїть на носі човна і дивиться в далеку далечінь. Цікаво, що у лику легендарної сестри скульптор Бородай зобразив свою дочку Галину, яка, на жаль, померла від хвороби у молодому віці.

In his hands Kyi holds a drawn bow, Shchek and Khoriv hold spears, and Lybid stands on the bow of the boat and looks into the distance. Interestingly, in the face of the legendary sister, the sculptor Borodai depicted his daughter Galina, who, unfortunately, died of an illness at a young age.

У лютому 2010 року ця пам'ятка зруйнувалась через корозію металу в каркасі монумента. За короткий час через три місяці відреставрована пам'ятка була відкрита знову. Цей монумент є давнім символом Києва, пізнаваним у всьому світі.

In February 2010, this monument collapsed due to corrosion of metal in the frame of the monument. In a short time, three months later, the restored monument was reopened. This monument is an ancient symbol of Kyiv, known all over the world.
