The last hope, the coffee packet and the android

The year is 3023. The earth is in a totally different geological era, unimaginable to the earthlings of a thousand years ago, when they had it all and didn't know how to handle it.

They tell of the gigabytes of sacred information, forged by the hivers ancestors in their ancient blogs among artists, writers, chefs and coffee lovers, who compiled the information in real time and left us the sacred scriptures, that the earth at that time had trees, clean air, crops and animals.

They say that humans were born with their bodies complete and perfect. They say that they did not appreciate what they had and underwent cosmetic surgeries to mould, cut, augment or reduce their parts. But what we are most terrified to read about is how they let the earth deteriorate.

They lost the clean air and we started using artificial respirators. They lost the trees, you couldn't plant. The earth's core stopped in the year 2023 and after a few months of total silence and stillness, it started spinning again but in the opposite direction.

The animals died, the ocean dried up and the surviving humans adapted to these new living conditions. We are born incomplete and to reinforce our capacities we are adapted a robot that covers the parts we lack. We are androids and often the reluctance and lack of self-esteem make us parasites of the robotic part that does everything for us.

A few days ago I went on an expedition for my job. My mission is to collect data in a place where there is a crater eaten away by rubbish and pollution.

I arrived and my robotic part started blowing away the debris and dust accumulated over a century. Among all this I found a boot. It looked ancient. My robot eye scanned the unknown material and it was leather. Another aberration of the ancestors to use the skins of extinct animals to cover objects.

I opened the container and was very surprised at what I saw. The computer told me it was a glass jar with compost inside. I froze. Hive's garden ancestors told us how to plant and care for the soil. I had read many times these stories of how they harvested their crops.

There was a diary and some strange grains that I had to scan twice because I could not believe what was in this package.

I started scanning the information in the diary. It was dated 2500 by a doctor of botany who seemed to be outdated in her writings.

At the bottom of the boot, a shiny package intrigued me. I took it in my hands to see what it was. It was a vacuum-packed package of coffee. Roasted and ground coffee.

I remembered what Hive's coffee-loving ancestors told us. The computer analysed the instructions on the packet and I proceeded to prepare it while still scanning the pages of the doctor's diary. Inside the boot was a bottle of water and a strange filter which, following the instructions, I assembled everything I needed to brew my coffee.

I uncapped the packet. The pupil of my human eye dilated. I breathed into the silver packet to inhale that ancestral aroma. I felt alive. I wanted to brew this drink. I had never ingested anything directly from my mouth. I did it through a probe that my robotic part had.

Once the water was boiled, I used the filter left by the doctor and prepared a dark, thick coffee with that aroma from another planet.

While I breathed in the sweetest, most bitter and delicious aroma that had perfumed the earth for more than 500 years, I went through the doctor's diary.

Research log :

I found the last coffee plant. It is sad to see how the leaves of every tree on the planet have fallen and we are left with nothing. Here in this boot I keep what I need to make a small crop and plant some coffee beans. It is the last hope of humanity, it is a second chance.

Don't hesitate to sow these seeds and restore the vitality of humans, if they still exist. I also leave you the last packet of coffee on earth. I wish you luck and may the coffee enlighten you.

My lips were drenched in the sacred liquid. My mouth was flooded with joy. This taste, this smell. A tear sprang from my human eye and I could feel the blood rushing through the veins of half my body. It was fantastic what a sip of coffee could do.

It has been 40 days since I found it and the little plant has started to give its red cherries. This is the new opportunity for humans to reclaim the land, thanks to the ancestors. I hope we know how to take advantage of it.

Thanks a lot... It was a difficult story to write. Let's hope this doesn't happen to the planet

I imagined you in your humanoid robotic form. Very clever and a science fiction story and a delicious last coffee in the world. I loved it a lot.☕

Thanks for sharing.

A true science fiction story - set well into the future with cyborgs! Love it. Very creative. I really like how you refer to the Hive ancestors as leaving behind a wealth of information. Very clever.

Lo que más me gusto de la historia fue el enfoque que diste a la par de tus fotografía es grandioso como el arte se ve de mil maneras.
