Be Careful: Wax Scammers Gonna Scam

I'm no wax expert by any means but I've learned how to use the site, get my NFTs in out, and buy and sell via Atomic.

But today was the first time I had received a trade or buy offer. You can see the alert in the nav bar in the above image.

When I clicked in I saw a buy offer and 2 trade offers. The above image shows the top portion of my screen when I clicked in. You can see in red that I don't receive anything from this trade.

Not pictured is that the person made a trade-off of nothing on my most valuable NFTs. What a generous offer lol. The problem is that solving the other can be treacherous and that is the intent.

You will see above that I can choose to accept or decline the offer. I obviously want to decline but any time you click anything you need to be careful. This is a blockchain and all sales final right?

Further, when you decline the offer you have to confirm the transaction via wax. Confirming a negative can freak you out and canceling the transaction to make sure you are doing it right can cause a lot of anxiety.

It burns me up that some scammer can contact me and I have to either make a mistake or not and risk my valuable assets. You can see my reply to this person below.

This may be normal for wax experts but if you don't do a lot of transactions it can be a harrowing experience. I blocked the offers and won't have to deal with those accounts again but new accounts will show up with the same scam.

Be very careful when navigating any offer from people you don't know. My advice is to steer clear and initiate your own offers if you are looking to buy and sell.

People will realize they do not need to scam in the Age of Abundance. Sadly too many still believe in scarcity and operate in nefarious ways.

It is really sad because it is to their advantage to send out bogus trade offers for no return because people will make mistakes when rejecting offers.

One of the ironies here is the same effort could probably earn them honest profits and no hiding in the shadows.

Isn't that the truth? Sad to see people do this. You are right. If those with nefarious intentions would use their creativity for positive purposes, they would come out at least the same, if not ahead.

I wonder if all of this is probably done automatically. What happens if you never respond to the buy order? I don't really visit AtomicHub much.

It just stays as an open offer unless the sender cancels it. It shows as an alert in your navigation bar. I suppose you could leave and let them pile up.

That is good to know. I haven't really touched atomic hub in a long time so I can just ignore it until I do actually visit the site.

Yes I do have some NFTs over there but I haven't really played anything on WAX much lately. So I haven't bothered to check and nothing will go wrong so long as I don't accept the offer.

(Edited)

This is unfortunate. I wonder how many fall prey to this scam?
I guess in the age of cryptocurrency there is no protection against this type of thing. But perhaps you can report them in theWax discord?
So this is an Atomic project on the Wax blockchain?
Thanks for the warning!
