When in Cologne, Drink Kölsch! 🍺🇩🇪

When we went to Köln for our city tour, we tried one of their local German Restaurant and tried Kölsch with a twist.

Kölsch: The Beer That Tells the Story of Cologne

I was so amazed by this experience as a first-time visitor! Since Kölsch is the local beer of Cologne, there’s a unique tradition that I found really interesting.

When you order a Kölsch and finish your glass, the server will usually come by and replace it with a fresh one—often without you even having to ask! They keep the Kölsch flowing while you enjoy your time at the table. 😄

And here’s the fun part, if you’ve had enough, simply place your coaster on top of your glass.** That’s the signal to the server that you don’t want another one.

I must say, experiencing this Kölsch tradition for the first time was such a fun part of our visit to Cologne! Prost! 🍻
