Cayo Coco 🏝

It's 5 a.m. the alarm clock rings and it's time for me to get up, the night before we left everything ready. Who? Two sea fanatics to death, and neither my mom nor I are reguetoneras 😅 We don't need much for a day at the beach, bikini, sunscreen, and something to eat.

The weather is perfect, the new moon gives me a calm tide, ideal to spend hours and hours floating on the shore without fear of being tossed by a wave.

We arrived at about 8:30 to the best beaches of Cuba, the Jardines del Rey Cays, specifically Cayo Coco, Playa Larga.

The trip takes about 1 hour and a half by car from Ciego de Avila, you can also get here by plane if you come for tourism, as there is a small airport on the key.

There are several hotels, with different prices available for both national and international tourism; in our case we only came to spend one day, but it is worth coming longer and enjoy.

I am very fond of this beach, here I learned to swim and to take my first saltwater baths in the process. I have been coming here since I was one year old, my stepfather is the founder of the Academy of Sciences in charge of the care and protection of the habitat.

The sand is very white and fine, it is full of fish swimming around your feet and the water is so crystal clear that it looks like a swimming pool.

When I was a child we used to come here every vacation to spend a few days. Digging holes in the sand and burying myself in them was my specialty. Now I'm a little older, but my inner child still loves this place, maybe because I have lived such beautiful moments.

One of the things I like most about this beach are its shells, there are beautiful shells of all types, sizes and colors, to be walking and at every step to be surprised with something beautiful. It is for me, almost like a ritual to do this, and always take my favorite ones home to make crafts that I then give as gifts.

Another ritual is to jump from the tip of the rock to one end of the beach, I love that feeling of adrenaline that I feel when I'm about to take the first jump, it's like life, at the beginning there is fear, but after I jump and see that I'm safe and I know how to swim, I want to do it again, but enjoying it twice as much.

There are also the seagulls watching for any breadcrumbs that fall on the sand or fly through the air. I take advantage and take some pictures of them as they glide over me, I don't know how they do it, I would love to have wings to find out.

Arriving at the big rock there is a kind of lagoon, formed by the same tide and it is necessary to cross to reach the next beach: Rocarena. On this occasion I did not cross, but the water in this stretch is super hot, plus it has a greenish color, I imagine it is due to the vegetation.

Well, you know my favorite beach, I've been coming here every year since I was a little girl, I feel it's part of me. I hope you liked it. See you soon.

Amazing Nature there. I myself preferred the beach at Santa María Key. But that's just nostalgy.

I have been impressed by the crystal clear water of this key! You made me remember a visit I made at some point in my life to one of the keys of my beloved Venezuela. This one is called sombrero key and has similar characteristics to the place you have shared with us today.

I loved with madness each one of the images of this publication, one of my favorites you know was the one of the water and the sea shells!

Congratulations, it's definitely a place I wouldn't want to leave if I were there.

Blessings.

What a nice post my friend. I really liked your way of telling us the story of your day. Those beach photos are spectacular. And the one with the shells is fantastic. You can see all the details.🙌. By the way, one question, what camera do you use to take the photos? Nice to see your post. Kind regards.

I took these photos with my Samsung A10 😅 It usually doesn't take such good photos, I think I was helped by the lighting.

Yes my friend, Cuba. These are the beaches of Jardines del Rey. Here you can also find Paya Pilar, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. I hope to do a post about it very soon.

Hey there, great post! The pics are freaking awesome. I was in Cayo Coco before the COVID-19 pandemic and I fell in love with those beaches. Your pics are sick, but being there in person is a whole other level. I totally recommend anyone reading this to visit this paradise. You won't regret it, trust me. Looking forward to your post on Playa Pilar!

Thank you very much. I'm glad you liked the photos, I made them with a lot of love. This beach means a lot to me, it's like my home. I come here every year since I was a child and yes, all the beaches of the Keys are stunning, but the most beautiful is Playa Pilar, with its small island in the middle, I love it.❤
