Una misa especial 🎼🌟🎹 [ENG/ESP]
Greetings to everyone in the Lifestyle community. Today I’m joining you here to share a new chapter in my life with you. On this occasion, I want to tell you about how this past Wednesday went—today was the memorial Mass for Mrs. Yusmary Martínez, who was the cousin of our Canticum Merú Director, Irma Conchita. The news broke a few days earlier and was quite painful for her and her family, so here in Puerto Ordaz we paid tribute to her through the Mass and the singing we provided. The service took place in Los Olivos at the Nuestra Señora de Coromoto Church at 6:00 p.m.
We hadn’t rehearsed for a few days precisely because of what I mentioned above. That’s quite unusual for us (not having a rehearsal), since we usually rehearse on the scheduled days, so when we didn’t have a rehearsal, I thought it was just a one-time thing (it had also been a very hectic week), but later it all made sense. Unfortunately, that was the reason, so we did what we do best: sing. The girls gathered at the little house (the academy) to warm up their voices. I had already arrived at the church, so I waited until everyone was there before going inside.
Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Lifestyle. El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes un nuevo día en mi vida. En esta ocasión quiero contar como estuvo este miércoles y es que hoy fue la misa en memoria de la señora Yusmary Martínez, quién fuera en vida la prima de nuestra Directora de Canticum Merú, Irma Conchita. La noticia se supo unos días antes y fue bastante doloroso para ella y sus parientes, así que desde acá en Puerto Ordaz se le rindió homenaje a través de la misa y el canto que nosotras otorgamos. La misma se dió en Los Olivos en la Iglesia Nuestra Señora de Coromoto a las 6:00 pm.
Teníamos algunos días sin ensayar precisamente por lo que comenté arriba. Eso es algo bastante inusual (no tener ensayo) pues nosotras siempre solemos ensayar los días pautados, por lo que cuando no tuvimos ensayo pensé que era algo puntual (fue también una semana muy movida), pero ya luego todo tuvo sentido. Lamentablemente fue por este motivo, así que hicimos lo que mejor sabemos hacer: cantar. Las chicas se reunieron en la casita (la academia) para vocalizar. Yo ya había llegado a la iglesia así que espere hasta que todas estuviéramos presentes para poder entrar a la iglesia.
For this Mass, we sang: “Junto a ti María,” “Santo,” “Ten Piedad,” “Cordero de Dios” (by Beatríz Corona), Mozart’s “Hallelujah,” “No solo el vino y el pan,” and “Panis Angelicus.” We usually sing Caccini’s “Ave María,” but it’s such a moving song that it would have been difficult to perform at the beginning, knowing it would only bring more tears and pain. As the director herself tells us, often the best approach isn’t to amplify the sorrow but to offer joy, optimism, and encouragement through music. It was a very beautiful ceremony, and the best part is that the family loved it. Finally, it was a day of reunions and closure. We hope better days are ahead for everyone, as these have been very strange and difficult months. A hug to you all, and thank you for reading my post.
Para esta misa cantamos: Junto a tí María, Santo, Ten Piedad, Cordero de Dios (de Beatríz Corona), Hallelujah de Mozart, No solo el vino y el pan y Panis Angelicus. Usualmente nosotras cantamos el Ave María de Caccini, pero es una canción muy conmovedora y que habría sido difícil poner en frente sabiendo que solo traería más lagrimas y dolor. Cómo la misma directora nos dice, muchas veces lo ideal no es seguir amplificando las penas sino servir alegría, optimismo y ánimos a través de la música. Fue una ceremonia muy bonita y lo mejor de ello es que a la familia le gustó. Finalmente, un día donde hubo encuentros y un cierre. Esperamos que vengan días mejores para todos, pues han sido meses muy extraños y duros. Un abrazo y gracias por leer mí publicación.
