Greetings to everyone in the Lifestyle community. Today I’m stopping by to share with you another day in my life. This time, it’s about another choir rehearsal. Next week, we’ll be performing on Wednesday at the Eurobuilding Hotel in Ciudad Guayana. So we’re getting ready for that.

The songs we’ll be performing are: “Viajeras del Río,” the Bolívar State Anthem, the National Anthem, and “Venezuela.” I must confess that I had never heard the song “Viajeras del Río” before (or maybe I had, but I don’t remember hearing that melody), but I think it’s very beautiful. It really makes you feel like you’re swaying on the river. And above all, I think it’s particularly lovely when sung by female voices. For that song, there’s a soloist, and in this case, the solo is performed by a classmate who has a very beautiful and well-tuned soprano voice. We (the entire choir) just provide the accompaniment so that the whole performance can be enjoyed as a whole: soloist, choir, and instrument.

Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Lifestyle. El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes un nuevo día en mi vida. En esta ocasión se trata sobre otro día de ensayo en el coro. La semana que viene tendremos la presentación el día miércoles en el Hotel Eurobuilding de Ciudad Guayana. Así que se está preparando para ese momento.

Las canciones que irán son: Viajeras del Rio, el Himno del estado Bolívar, el Himno Nacional y Venezuela. Yo debo confesar que nunca antes había escuchado la canción de Viajeras del Río (o quizá si pero no recuerdo haber escuchado esa melodía), pero me parece muy bonita. Realmente parece mecerse uno en el río. Y sobre todo, creo que es particularmente preciosa cuando es cantada por voces femeninas. Para esa canción de tiene una solista y en este caso el solo lo hace una compañera que tiene una voz de soprano muy bella y afinada. Nosotras (el coro completo) solamente acompañamos para que se pueda disfrutar todo en su conjunto; solista, coro e instrumento.

That song is also accompanied by the cuatro, so a musician friend of the girls came to help us with the work. His name is Tomás, and he has a very friendly and cheerful personality, so every now and then, along with our teacher Irma, he would have us in stitches. It was a pretty fun rehearsal; we worked on that song and also rehearsed the piece “Venezuela” a bit. By the way, both songs have their own level of complexity. Especially the first one, which is so changeable and so unpredictable. I think that last part is something that usually helps when you don’t know how to read sheet music, since having an idea of the song’s structure can help you predict the next movement, and you tend to look for that almost instinctively. So no, sometimes that doesn’t happen, and in general, I think predicting isn’t a good idea for a musician. I’ll tell you more soon. Without further ado, thank you so much for stopping by.

Esa canción también se acompaña con el cuatro, así que vino un músico amigo de las chicas para ayudarnos con el trabajo. Se llama Tomás y es de un carácter bastante amable y alegre, así que de vez en cuando junto con la profe Irma nos sacaban unas buenas risas. Fue un ensayo bastante chévere, estuvimos sacando esa canción y también ensayamos un poco la pieza de "Venezuela". Por cierto, ambas canciones tienen su nivel de complejidad. Sobre todo la primera que es tan cambiante y tan poco predecible. Yo creo que eso último es algo con lo que uno suele ayudarse cuando no se sabe leer partituras, pues tener la idea del orden que lleva una canción puede llevar a predecir cuál es el siguiente movimiento y uno tiende a buscar eso de forma casi instintiva. Así que no, a veces eso no sucede y en general, creo que predecir no es una buena idea en un músico. Pronto les contaré más. Sin más que decir, muchísimas gracias por pasar por aquí.

Me hiciste recordar mis ensayos en la coral de la escuela, pero ahí si no nos enseñaban música, todo era de oído, pero igual salían muy bien las presentaciones.
