La Niña Heriberta y las cumpleañeras 🎹🎂☕🌟 [ENG/ESP]
Greetings to everyone in the Lifestyle community. Today I’m stopping by to share another day in my life with you. This time, I want to share what part of my day looked like, now that we’re more than halfway through the week. I promised to post some pictures of what I’ve been doing for the kids, but I haven’t really been able to finish those tasks yet, and I’d like to be able to share a tutorial or at least a good photo gallery. That’s something I’ll save for next week. Among other things that have happened. For now, here we are, and I’ll tell you about the rehearsal with Cerro Bolívar.
Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Lifestyle. El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes un nuevo día en mi vida. En esta ocasión les quiero compartir lo que fue parte de mi día, ya estando a más de mitad de semana. Prometí subir algunas imágenes sobre lo que he estado haciendo para los niños, pero realmente no he podido terminar esos deberes y me gustaría poder dejar un tutorial o al menos un buen registro fotográfico. Eso es algo que servirá para la próxima semana. Entre otras cosas que han sucedido. Por los momentos, aquí estamos y les contaré sobre el ensayo con Cerro Bolívar.
Since that last time, I really enjoyed it and have been practicing some of the songs they’ve already put together, as well as others that are coming up for future performances. I find those songs very upbeat, very lively, and, well, quite different because they feature the cuatro and the voices of the bass and tenor singers. So today we’re starting with “La Niña Heriberta,” a song that, as I mentioned above, embodies all those qualities. I enjoy learning about Venezuelan music because, I must admit, I’ve hardly ever made a point of listening to it. I think joining the choir has taught me a valuable lesson: it’s essential, important, and highly recommended that you listen to the music produced in your own country. It’s part of our tradition and helps us understand who we are—our unique character. I learned this through the visual arts, but in music, it’s a whole other world. Besides, it’s rude not to know anything about Venezuelan music when you’re Venezuelan yourself.
“La Niña Heriberta” is quite catchy, and it’s easy to follow the beat so we can sing it together with the girls. We also rehearsed “La Negra Atilia,” “La Vasija de Barro,” “Natalia,” and others that they know but that were part of the celebration—since today we were celebrating, and at the end of every month, the choir celebrates the members who have birthdays. So today we performed the birthday repertoire to celebrate those members. A few were absent, but two of them were present. It was a lively and satisfying rehearsal. Desde aquella última vez, a mí me gustó mucho y estuve practicando algunas de las canciones que ellos ya tienen montadas y otras que se vienen para futuras presentaciones. Esas canciones me parecen muy alegres, muy sabrosas y pues es bastante diferente porque se cuenta con el cuatro y están las voces de los compañeros bajos y tenores. Así que hoy comenzamos con La Niña Heriberta, una canción que cómo les dije arriba, cumple con todas esas cualidades. Me gusta aprender sobre música venezolana pues confieso que casi nunca me he dedicado a escucharla. Creo que entrar a las coros me ha enseñado una valiosa lección: es imprescindible, importante y recomendable que uno escuche la música que en su país se produce. Es tradición y entendimiento de quiénes somos, nuestra idiosincrasia. Yo lo aprendí con la artes plásticas, pero en la música es todo un mundo. Además de que es descortés no saber de música venezolana siendo uno venezolano.
La Niña Heriberta es bastante pegajosa y resulta fácil seguir el ritmo para poder cantarla juntos a las muchachas. También se ensayo La Negra Atilia, la Vasija de Barro, Natalia y otras que ellos conocen pero que fueron parte de la celebración pues hoy estuvimos de fiesta y es que cada fin de mes, el coro celebra a aquellos miembros que estuvieron cumpliendo años. Así que hoy nos tocó el repertorio cumpleañero para celebrar a esos miembros. Faltaron algunos, pero estuvieron presentes dos de ellas. Fue un ensayo bien animado y satisfactorio.
