Kevin E. Levin: My Favorite Superhero/Villain [ENG/ESP]
Hello to everyone in the HIVE-CON community! Today I'm joining the "My Favorite Superhero or Villain" community initiative. This is my entry to participate and I also want to invite @aliciarodriguez and @wilfredocav. So let's get started with it.
Many of us grew up watching the same cartoons and anime. Although I must say that nowadays I still watch them because that love for cartoons has not disappeared (and I hope it doesn't). This is how within all that animated universe, I have chosen who is for me, one of the most beloved characters and who fits the role of villain/superhero: Kevin Ethan Levin.
¡Hola a todos en la comunidad de HIVE-CON! El día de hoy me uno a la iniciativa de la comunidad "Mi Superhéroe o Villano Favorito". Esta es mi entrada para participar y también quiero invitar a @aliciarodriguez y @wilfredocav. Así que comencemos con ello.
Muchos de nosotros crecimos viendo las mismas caricaturas y animes. Aunque debo decir que en la actualidad los sigo viendo pues ese amor por los dibujos animados no ha desaparecido (y espero que no suceda). Es así cómo dentro de todo ese universo animado, he escogido a quién es para mí, uno de los personajes más queridos y quién encaja en ese papel de villano/superhéroe: Kevin Ethan Levin.
Kevin belongs to the cartoon Ben 10. His first appearance was in the original saga presenting himself as a boy abandoned by his family and surviving on the streets of New York. By that time, Kevin was about 11 years old and possessed some super powers such as driving and absorbing electricity. He had a defiant, hostile and antisocial personality and soon had differences with the hero of the story, Ben Tennyson, whom he met in an arcade. Their friendship would not last long because Kevin wanted to commit illicit acts and Ben would not allow him to do so, so Kevin quickly became one of the main villains.
It is interesting to note that in the first saga many of us could not think of Kevin as someone who could go from villain to superhero and that is precisely what happens in the following sagas: Alien Force, Alien Supremacy and Omniverse. The second saga brings us a totally different Kevin, much more balanced, mature and focused, now 16 years old, Kevin became part of Ben's team thanks to his remarkable efforts to help Ben against "the forces of evil". I think it is a great success because the redemption given to the character consolidates some of the ideas raised in the series such as "we all deserve a second chance". And he not only deserved it but ended up being one of the best heroes.
Kevin pertenece a la caricatura Ben 10. Su primera aparición fue en la saga original presentándose cómo un chico abandonado por su familia y qué sobrevivía en las calles de Nueva York. Para ese momento, Kevin tenía unos 11 años de edad y poseía algunos súper poderes cómo conducir y absorber electricidad. Tenía una personalidad desafiante, hostil y antisocial por lo que pronto tuvo diferencias con el héroe de la historia, Ben Tennyson, a quién conoció en una sala de videojuegos. Su amistad no duraría mucho pues Kevin deseaba cometer actos ilícitos y Ben no le permitiría hacerlos, por ello Kevin pasó a ser rápidamente uno de los villanos principales.
Es interesante tomar en cuenta que en la primera saga muchos no podíamos pensar en Kevin cómo alguien que pudiera pasar de villano a superhéroe y eso es precisamente lo que ocurre en las siguientes sagas: Fuerza Alienígena, Supremacía Alienígena y Omniverse. La segunda saga nos trae a un Kevin totalmente diferente mucho más equilibrado, maduro y centrado, con ahora 16 años, Kevin pasó a ser parte del equipo de Ben gracias a sus notables esfuerzos por ayudar a este contra "las fuerzas del mal". Considero que es un gran acierto porque la redención que se le da al personaje consolida algunas de las ideas que plantean en la serie cómo lo es "todos merecemos una segunda oportunidad". Y él no solo lo merecía sino que terminó siendo uno de los mejores héroes.
What I like about Kevin is that in his version as a child he was someone who liked chaos but he was really lost, he needed a helping hand to see things from another perspective and although he had it, he discarded it. And it is there, when he grows up, that he understands that he should not reject that help again, being humble enough to accept being wrong in the past and let himself be guided by those who are now his friends. Kevin tends to have many internal struggles (do good/do evil) because sometimes he seems to be his own enemy but, in one way or another, he manages to come out on top. And that was admirable to see on screen, a character who could feel himself faltering but who rises up. Kevin has shown that he can be not only a great villain but also a great hero. A duality shared.
Finally, my friends, the truth is that our heroes will always owe their existence to that counterpart that subjugates them: the villains. A reference that makes us keep the balance: light/darkness, good/evil, beauty/faithfulness. And definitely Kevin for me is a great example that sometimes those two things can be part of oneself, the question is what to do with that power. Lo que me gusta de Kevin es que en su versión de niño era alguien que gustaba del caos pero realmente estaba perdido, necesitaba de una mano amiga para ver las cosas desde otra perspectiva y aunque la tuvo, la descartó. Y es allí, cuando crece, que entiende que no debe rechazar de nuevo esa ayuda, siendo lo suficientemente humilde cómo para aceptar estar equivocado en el pasado y dejarse guiar por quienes ahora son sus amigos. Kevin suele tener muchas luchas internas (hacer el bien/hacer el mal) pues a veces el mismo parece ser su propio enemigo pero, de una forma u otra, logra salir airoso. Y eso era admirable de ver en pantalla, un personaje que podía sentirse flaqueado pero que se levantaba. Kevin a demostrado que puede ser no solamente un gran villano sino también un gran héroe. Una dualidad compartida.
Finalmente amigos míos, lo cierto es que, nuestros héroes siempre deberán su existencia a esa contraparte que los somete: los villanos. Una referencia que nos haga mantener el equilibrio: luz/oscuridad, bien/mal, belleza/fealdad. Y definitivamente Kevin para mí es un gran ejemplo de que a veces esas dos cosas pueden ser parte de uno mismo, la cuestión está en qué se hace con ese poder. I still love watching cartoons even if am all grown up, ben 10 was one of favorite cartoons then when i was little, i dont watch it anymore thou maybe because i dont have Access to it in my channels, but am all universal i can sit a whole day and watch bunch of cartoons, so far its matured and dope

Gracias por invitarme 🤗😍❤️💯 no sabía bien sobre este personaje. Incluso llegue a comprar un regalo 🎁 para un cumpleaños infantil. Mi ahijado le gusta mucho verlo. Y por eso hicieron la decoración acerca de este personaje. Es increíble ver más allá de su reseña. Me encanta ver que este es su favorito. 💟💟

Kevin termino siendo un gran personaje y tuvo una importancia muy grande en la historia, recuerdo que en el primer capitulo cuando aparece no parecía ser mas que otro personaje que saldria en un solo capitulo pero luego el desarrollo que tuvo fue muy bueno, en la saga donde eran adolescentes tenia una personalidad muy buena :D
