Concierto 31 Aniversario con Canticum Merú: Lumen, Cristo luz del mundo 🎼💓 Mi experiencia [ENG/ESP]
Greetings to everyone in the Lifestyle community. Today I’m joining you here to share a new chapter in my life. This time, I’m bringing you coverage of Canticum Merú’s anniversary concert at the Portuguese Club in Ciudad Guayana, held to celebrate the choir’s 31st anniversary. The concert took place in the club’s chapel, where we were warmly welcomed by Mrs. Cecilia and other members. As I mentioned a few weeks ago here on the Hive platform, we had been rehearsing the sacred repertoire for this event for weeks. I mentioned some of the pieces in the post dedicated to my first event with the choir in honor of Herminia Colina. They are all truly beautiful.
We also rehearsed the day before to assess the acoustics, determine where the instruments would be placed, and where we would stand... and, if necessary, adjust our positions for specific songs like the opening and closing numbers. I must say we’ve been working quite hard to make this moment truly special and to showcase the choir’s quality. Since I’m fairly new, I felt the need to fit in or measure up to my fellow members. They are all excellent musicians and singers who have control over their voices and also understand music at an ideal level—some through years of choral experience, academic training, or both. I think people don’t talk much about the work the girls put into the choir, but it’s truly admirable because it requires time, study, and hard work. So I set a goal for myself this year to join the choir and improve, learn, and give it my all.
Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Lifestyle. El día de hoy me uno por acá para compartir con ustedes un nuevo día en mi vida. En esta ocasión les traigo lo que fue el concierto aniversario de Canticum Merú en el Club Portugués de ciudad Guayana, con motivo de celebración de los 31 aniversarios del coro. El mismo se efectuó en la capilla del club dónde fuimos atendidas con mucho cariño por parte de la señora Cecilia y otra integrantes. Como ya comenté hace una semanas por acá por la plataforma de Hive, estuvimos practicando el repertorio sacro que se cantaría para ese evento durante semanas. Algunas de ellas las nombres en la publicación dedicada a mi primer evento junto al coro en honor a Herminia Colina. Todas son realmente preciosas.
También estuvimos ensayando el día anterior para poder tomar en cuenta cómo sería la acústica, donde se colocarían los instrumentos y en donde nos posicionaríamos nosotras... y de ser necesario, cambiar las posiciones para algunas canciones puntuales como la de apertura y la de cierre. Debo decir que hemos estado trabajando bastante duro para que este momento fuera realmente especial y se sintiera la calidad del coro. Al ser bastante nueva sentía la necesidad de poder encajar o llegar a la altura de mis demás compañeras. Todas ellas excelentes músicos y cantantes, quienes tienen un control de sus voces y comprenden además la música a un nivel ideal. Algunas por largos años de experiencia coral, formación académica o por ambas cosas. Yo creo que no se habla mucho sobre el trabajo de las chicas dentro del coro, pero es realmente admirable pues se requiere de tiempo, estudio y trabajo duro. Así que me propuse como meta para este año entrar al coro y mejorar, aprender y dar todo de mí.
The day finally arrived, and at 4:00 p.m. we were in the chapel, already dressed and ready to begin the sacred concert titled “Lumen: Christ, Light of the World.” I was quite nervous, but above all worried about making a mistake. Luckily, the moment we entered, I remember seeing the afternoon sun streaming through the chapel’s stained-glass windows, and I took that moment to appreciate it and ask the universe for everything to go well. Then we began singing Caccini’s Ave Maria, and everything flowed smoothly. My hands were shaking a little, but I must say that everything went very well, and the audience seemed to enjoy listening to the entire repertoire. We finished at 7. We closed with “Dona Nobis Pachem.” Honestly, I wanted to sing with all my might, but at times I felt like my voice wouldn’t come out. El día finalmente llegó y a las 4:00 pm nosotras estábamos en la capilla, ya vestidas y arregladitas para poder comenzar con el concierto sacro llamado “Lumen: Cristo, Luz del mundo”. Estaba bastante nerviosa, pero sobre todo preocupada por no cometer un error. Por suerte en el momento que entramos recuerdo ver como el sol de esa tarde entraba por los vitrales de la capilla y me tomé ese instante para apreciar eso y pedir al uníverso que todo saliera bien. Ahí comenzamos a cantar Ave María de Caccini y todo siguió con fluidez. Mis manos temblaban un poco, pero debo decir que todo salió muy bien y las personas se notaban a gusto escuchando todo el repertorio. Terminamos a las 7. Nos despedimos con Dona Nobis Pachem. Sinceramente quise cantar con todas mis fuerzas, pero en momentos sentí que mi voz no salía. Sin embargo esta es una experiencia que me servirá para el futuro. Feliz Semana Santa.
