Canticum Merú 💐❤️: Debut y Gloria [ENG/ESP]
Greetings to everyone in the Lifestyle community. Today I’m joining you here to share another day in my life with you. This time, I want to tell you how my debut with Canticum Merú went. The truth is that this week we have the concert for the choir’s 31st anniversary; however, due to the unfortunate passing of Herminia Colina, a Rotary member here in Ciudad Guayana, the choir went to the cathedral to offer support during Mass. So this Wednesday, after leaving work, I got ready to make it to the event.
I had to work that day, and I was a little worried because we wear a specific outfit that serves as a uniform to maintain a consistent look for the choir. However, I left a little early so I could get dressed and be ready to head out with the girls I was going to meet at the cathedral. I also packed the black folder with the sheet music for that day’s songs. Unfortunately, the friend who was going to drive me there got quite sick, which is also concerning because she’s been feeling this way for a few days. The good news is that I was able to get there with my teacher and the whole team.
Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Lifestyle, el día de hoy me uno por acá para compartir con ustedes un nuevo día mi vida. En esta ocasión quiero comentarles cómo me fue en mi debut con Canticum Merú. La verdad es que esta semana tenemos el concierto por el aniversario del coro que cumple 31 años, sin embargo, debido al lamentable fallecimiento de Herminia Colina, miembro Rotary de aquí en Ciudad Guayana el coro se trasladó hasta la catedral para ofrecer apoyo durante la misa. Así que este miércoles, luego de salir del trabajo me aliste para poder llegar al encuentro.
Ese día tenía trabajo, estaba un poco preocupada porque llevamos un vestuario que funciona como uniforme para poder mantener una imagen homogénea en el coro. Sin embargo, salí con un poquito de antelación para poder vestirme y estar lista para irme con las chicas con quienes iba a llegar a la catedral. También aliste lo que era la carpeta negra con las partituras de los cantos de ese día. Lamentablemente la compañera que me iba a llevar hasta la localidad se puso bastante enferma, lo cual también es preocupante porque ha estado algunos días en esa situación. Creo que hice lo correcto que es guardar reposo. Lo bueno es que pude llegar con mi profesora y todo el equipo.
When we arrived at the cathedral, we began warming up our voices and preparing to sing. Mass began shortly after, and that’s when we started with the first pieces. We sang “Junto a ti María” followed by “Santo,” “Gloria,” “Honor y Gloria,” “Señor ten piedad,” “Panis Angelicus,” “Agnus Dei,” “Ave María - Caccini,” and “Nigra Sum.” Those were the songs we sang. For my first event participating in, I feel we did quite well, and above all, we achieved the goal of honoring the memory of Herminia, who was a much-loved person; her friends and family approached us to thank us for our presence and the singing we offered during this ceremony. It was quite moving. And in moments like these, I’m grateful to have the opportunity to sing and be part of what I hope will be one of many more gatherings. Al llegar a la catedral, comenzamos a vocalizar y a prepararnos para el canto. Pronto empezó la misa y allí arrancamos nosotras con las primeras piezas. Cantamos “Junto a ti María” seguido de “Santo”, “Gloria”, “Honor y Gloria”, “Señor ten piedad”, “Panis Angelicus”, Agnus Dei”, “Ave María - Caccini”, “Nigra Sum”. Esas fueron las canciones que nos nosotras cantamos. Para hacer el primer evento en el cual participo, siento que nos fue bastante bien y sobretodo se cumplió con el objetivo de honrar la memoria de Herminia, la cual era una persona bastante amada y sus amigos y familiares se acercaron hacia nosotras para agradecer nuestra compañía y el canto otorgado durante esta ceremonia. Fue bastante conmovedor. Y en momentos así agradezco poder tener la oportunidad de cantar y pertenecer en lo que espero sea uno de muchos más encuentros. Muchas felicidades por tu debut! Cantar en una catedral siempre tiene una acústica y una energía especial. El repertorio que eligieron, especialmente el "Ave María" de Caccini, es hermoso y muy conmovedor para un homenaje.
