Ladies of Hive Community Contest #301 (ESP/ENG)
Me siento muy identificada con las preguntas que trae el cuestionario para esta semana, pues vivo en un país que se conoce por ser muy estricto en ese aspecto sobre belleza y bienestar, Venezuela, pues nosotros tenemos 21 coronas principales en los tres concursos internacionales más importantes del mundo: 7 en Miss Universo, 6 en Miss Mundo y 8 en Miss Internacional. Si se suman otros certámenes y categorías globales de menor escala, el país acumula más de 220 títulos internacionales, y todo esto sucede por algo, desde pequeñas nos cuidamos mucho, eso está en nuestra cultura.

1️⃣Partiendo de la frase : "La belleza empieza con nosotras y desde nosotras" — que es muy importante para un buen funcionamiento en la vida diaria — ¿Procuras estar bella para que te vean bien los demás, o es para sentirte bien contigo misma?
As I mentioned, looking after our appearance is a fundamental part of our culture in Venezuela—I won't lie, we care about how we look. It’s common to hear phrases like "stand up straight" or "fix your hair" from a young age. Personally, I do take care of my image and try to look nice when I go out, but I do it more for myself than for anyone else. I enjoy wearing makeup—though not too much—and choosing clothes that suit my age and skin tone, but I don't really worry too much about what others think of me. There will always be people who love or hate your style; what matters is what you think of yourself and how you feel about yourself.
Como les dije, en Venezuela es parte fundamental de nuestra cultura el hecho de cuidarnos, no les voy a mentir, nos preocupa la apariencia física, así que es común escuchar desde niñas frases como "párate derecha" o "peinate" sin embargo yo particularmente si cuido mi imagen y procuro verme bonita cuando voy a salir, lo hago más por mi misma que por otras personas, me gusta maquillarme, aunque no demasiado, ponerme ropa acorde a mi edad y tono de piel y todo eso, pero realmente no me importa demasiado lo que otros opinen de mi, porque siempre va a haber personas que amen u odien tu estilo, lo importante es lo que tú misma pienses de ti y como te sientes contigo misma.

Yeah, haha, my family has always had a few beauty tips; for instance, laundry soap mixed with sugar is a really great combination. The soap lather and sugar create a paste that’s excellent for fighting acne. Also, aloe vera gel works wonders on your skin—it’s a great moisturizer—but when you cut the leaf, you need to let it drain for at least a day to get rid of the iodine, which can be irritating. I also like mixing aloe vera into my shampoo (I blend the gel and add it to the bottle); it adds shine and hydration.
Si, jeje, desde siempre en mi familia ha habido algunos tips de belelza, por ejemplo jabón de lavar ropa mezclado con azucar es una buena buena combinación, la espuma del jabón junto con el azucar crea una pasta que es exclente para combatir el acné, por otra parte el cristal del aloe vera en tu piel hace maravillas, es un buen hidratante pero cuando cortes la penca del aloe, debes dejarlo por al menos un día escurriendo para deshacerte del yodo, lo cuál podría ser irritante, también me gusta mezclar el aloe vera con mi shampoo (licuo el cristal y lo añado a la botella de mi shampoo) con esto le aportas brillo e hidratación.

I love that you admitted to caring about your looks: something a lot of people pretend about.
But like you said, the most important thing should be to prioritize the efforts into looking good for ourselves. Not family, friends, lovers or strangers.
It’s also my first time hearing about using laundry soap and sugar as a remedy for acne. That sounds like something that may come off too harsh for the skin, esp for people with certain sensitivities. Now, I’m curious to do some research.

That is certainly what we learn about beauty and well-being in our culture from the time we are little girls; another phrase I’ve heard is "relax and fix your hair." As you say, there will always be people who like your style and others who don't, but your own taste and well-being are what matter—just like the tips you describe.
