Visiting my father in the country [ESP/ENG]

Vivir en el campo tiene sus ventajas y desventajas. Una de las cosas buenas que nos ofrece la madre naturaleza es el poder cultivar el fruto y tener la dicha de vivir de ella. Para nadie es un secreto que a través de ella podemos obtener muchos beneficios siempre y cuando sepamos aprovecharla al máximo; además de eso también podemos criar todos los animales que deseemos, eso si mencionar lo rico que es levantarse por las mañanas con el sonido de los pájaros cantando y con un cafecito llanero.

Una de las desventajas de vivir en el campo es que muy poco podemos encontrar señal satelital/telefónica para cualquier emergencia. Segundo, solo nos acostumbramos a depender del campo y no ver mas allá de las cosas que pasan en el mundo. Además no se cuenta con energía eléctrica y por ultimo pero no menos importante es que si se te antoja un dulce no lo vamos a poder tenerlo a menos que tengas una caja de dulce guardadita, ya saben de lo que hablo.

Tuve la oportunidad de visitar a mi padre en las navidades ya que tenia un año sin verlo y me hacia falta estar y hablar con él. Mi padre vive en el campo ya que le fascina todo lo que tenga que ver con siembra, digamos que tiene un rancho y allí el vive con su esposa, pero no solo ellos dos, mi padre es una persona que le fascinan criar y tener animales sobre todo ama a los gatos y perros, pero también le gusta criar gallinas.

Cuando fui con los niños y mi esposo a visitarlo, estaba muy feliz y contento, a mi me dio mucha alegría poder compartir con él y poder disfrutar del campo que tanto extrañaba ya que crecí en él, es agradable y fascinante poder respirar aire fresco.

Había pasado tanto tiempo que no lo visitaba, y quedé impresionada porque como les dije ama la siembra el campo los animales tanto que tenia como cinco gatos, siete perros, muchas gallinas y sin contar los cerdos que tenía en un corral. Como es un campo y esta retirado de la ciudad estos animales no están acostumbrados a ver personas por lo que los gatitos se metían al bosque para ocultarse de nosotros; estaban asustados y no se dejaban acariciar y salían corriendo. Por suerte de tanto insistir pude tomar uno de ellos en mis manos.

Decidimos explorar un poco los espacios a su alrededor. El río queda muy cerca de allí por lo que bajamos para verlo mas de cerca. Seguimos caminado y nos encontramos con algunas matas de topocho que ya tenían hijos y que ya estaban casi listos para cosecharlos.

Seguimos nuestro recorrido por el campo y realmente era bastante agradable poder tener una conexión con la naturaleza y ver lo productiva que es nuestra tierra.

Debo reconocer que mi padre ha sabido aprovechar muy bien el campo, ya que en los tiempos de siembra él cultiva sus granos, maíz, yuca y algunas hortalizas como el pimentón el ají y tomate y algunas frutas como melón y patilla. Digamos que el vive de sus siembras, juntamente con su compañera y me siento muy orgullosa de mi padre, es una gran ejemplo a seguir.

Living in the countryside has its advantages and disadvantages. One of the good things that Mother Nature offers us is to be able to cultivate the fruit and have the joy of living from it. It is no secret that through her we can obtain many benefits as long as we know how to make the most of it; besides that we can also raise all the animals we want, not to mention how nice it is to wake up in the morning with the sound of the birds singing and with a little coffee from the plains.

One of the disadvantages of living in the countryside is that we can rarely find satellite/telephone signal for any emergency. Secondly, we only get used to depend on the countryside and do not see beyond the things that happen in the world. Also there is no electricity and last but not least if you are craving for candy you will not be able to get it unless you have a box of candy stashed away, you know what I am talking about.

I had the opportunity to visit my father over Christmas since I hadn't seen him for a year and I needed to be with him and talk to him. My father lives in the country because he loves everything that has to do with planting, let's say he has a ranch and there he lives with his wife, but not just the two of them, my father is a person who loves to raise and have animals especially loves cats and dogs, but he also likes to raise chickens.

When I went with the children and my husband to visit him, he was very happy and content, it gave me great joy to share with him and to enjoy the countryside that I missed so much since I grew up in it, it is nice and fascinating to breathe fresh air.

It had been so long since I had visited him, and I was impressed because as I told you he loves planting the field the animals so much that he had like five cats, seven dogs, many chickens and not counting the pigs that he had in a pen. As it is a field and is removed from the city these animals are not used to seeing people so the kittens went into the woods to hide from us; they were scared and would not let themselves be petted and ran away. Luckily I was able to take one of them in my hands.

We decided to explore the surrounding areas a bit. The river is very close by so we walked down to get a closer look. We continued walking and came across some topocho bushes that already had children and were almost ready to harvest them.

We continued our tour of the countryside and it was really quite nice to be able to have a connection with nature and see how productive our land is.

I must recognize that my father has been able to take advantage of the field very well, since in planting time he grows his grains, corn, cassava and some vegetables such as paprika, chili bell pepper and tomato and some fruits like melon and patilla. Let's say that he lives from his crops, together with his partner and I feel very proud of my father, he is a great example to follow.
