Cuando las cosas se hacen con amor, no pesan y por el contrario salen muy bien. Hola amigos hivers, reciban un caluroso abrazo y un afectivo saludo. El día de hoy les quiero compartir la jornada número dos que tuve con mis niños de tareas dirigidas, pintando las franelas con motivos navideños.

En el mes de julio se me ocurrió la genial idea de dictarles un taller de pintura sobre tela a los niños a quienes les doy tareas dirigidas. Para ponerlos en contexto, me presento para los que no me conocen; soy profesora jubilada, oriunda de La Sabana, Estado Vargas, (ahora La Guaira) en Venezuela; recién obtuve mi jubilación me dedico a dar tareas dirigidas a niños vecinos a mi domicilio; quienes se han adueñado de mi corazón.

In July, I had the brilliant idea of giving a painting workshop on fabric to the children I tutor. To give you some context, let me introduce myself for those who don't know me. I am a retired teacher, originally from La Sabana, Vargas State (now La Guaira) in Venezuela. Since retiring, I have been tutoring children who live near my home, and they have stolen my heart.

Mucho antes de jubilarme, ya ejercía esta actividad porque me era más productiva económicamente hablando, hoy día es mi fuente de ingresos; en tal sentido luego de jubilarme me organicé mejor, tengo horarios estructurados y planifico actividades extra- cátedras, porque el tiempo me lo permite.

Long before I retired, I was already doing this because it was more financially rewarding for me. Today, it is my source of income. In that sense, after retiring, I got better organized, I have structured schedules, and I plan extracurricular activities because I have the time to do so.

En consecuencia, puedo hacer actividades que ellos disfrutan haciendo y yo, disfruto enseñándoles. Días pasados hice un post donde les contaba la primera jornada de pintura sobre telas. En éste quiero compartir la segunda jornada, pero esta vez con motivos navideños. Aquí hago un paréntesis, fue muy cómico este proceso porque yo esperaba que ellos escogieran motivos navideños, árboles, campanas, renos entre otros; pues no. Mi sorpresa fue, que algunos repitieron el mismo diseño, solo que lo vistieron de navidad.😄😆😂

As a result, I can do activities that they enjoy doing, and I enjoy teaching them. To my surprise, some of them repeated the same design, only they dressed it up for Christmas.😄😆😂

Me reí mucho, incluso traté de persuadirlos, pero no hubo manera de convencerlos, estos niños son muy maduros e inteligentes, además que tienen una personalidad increíbles y saben defender sus gustos y atractivos de manera convincente, hecho me llena de satisfacción porque son la generación de relevo. Hubo una mamá que no le gustó el diseño que su niño escogió, entonces yo le manifesté que esa fue su decisión y debíamos respetarla. Solo una niña escogió un muñeco de nieve.

I laughed a lot, I even tried to persuade them, but there was no way to convince them. These children are very mature and intelligent, they have incredible personalities, and they know how to defend their tastes and preferences in a convincing way, which fills me with satisfaction because they are the next generation. There was one mother who didn't like the design her child chose, so I told her that it was their decision and we had to respect it. Only one girl chose a snowman.

Me enorgullece comentarles que, felizmente para mí, ellos se siente muy a gusto en mi casa, el trato que mi familia y yo les damos es bastante acogedor; en tal sentido, ellos vienen para acá con gusto, y eso no es difícil de observar porque ya sabemos que los niños, son genuinos y ellos no esconden nada. Tal como les mencioné antes, tienen demasiada personalidad y convicción ante la vida a su corta edad y eso ha hecho entre nosotros y entre ellos mismos una excelente conexión.

I am proud to tell you that, fortunately for me, they feel very comfortable in my home, and my family and I treat them very warmly. In this sense, they enjoy coming here, and that is not difficult to see because we know that children are genuine and do not hide anything. As I mentioned before, they have a lot of personality and conviction about life at their young age, and that has created an excellent connection between us and among themselves.

Son demasiado transparentes, así como se sientan lo van a decir y a demostrar; es así pues, que fueron ellos mismos quienes solicitaron esta segunda forma de taller. Fueron ellos quienes me preguntaban durante el primer lapso, qué cuándo íbamos a pintar las franelas de navidad. Yo les respondían siempre lo mismo: ¿ya les compraron las franelas? 😁😉 ellos respondían que no, y yo les decía: Si no tienes la franela ¿cómo vamos a pintar?😂😅🤣

They are too transparent; as soon as they sit down, they say and show what they think. That is why they themselves requested this second type of workshop. They were the ones who asked me during the first session when we were going to paint the Christmas T-shirts. I always gave them the same answer: Have you bought the T-shirts yet? 😁😉 They said no, and I said, “If you don't have the T-shirts, how are we going to paint them?”😂😅🤣

Obviamente, no era su responsabilidad, ni estaba en sus manos. En consecuencia, presioné un poco a los padres y le puse fecha a la actividad, para que les compraran las franelas a los niños. En la primera jornada yo tenía franelas y se las vendí, pero en esta oportunidad era responsabilidad de sus padres, comprárselas.

Obviously, it wasn't his responsibility, nor was it in his hands. Consequently, I put a little pressure on the parents and set a date for the activity so that they could buy the T-shirts for the children. On the first day, I had T-shirts and sold them to them, but this time it was their parents' responsibility to buy them.

El taller consta de 6 horas de 60 minutos, no pedagógicas (45 minutos) es decir tres clases de dos horas cada clase, cuando son de color blanco y si son de otro color requieren más horas, sin embargo, yo los ayudo. Siempre les echo una manita y estoy pendiente de su trabajo para que el producto sea impecable y los resultados hermosos.

The workshop consists of six 60-minute sessions, not including teaching time (45 minutes), i.e., three two-hour classes. When they are white, they require fewer hours, but if they are another color, they require more hours. However, I always give them a hand and keep an eye on their work to ensure that the product is flawless and the results beautiful.

Luego que las franelas estuvieron listas, les organicé en complicidad con sus padres una fiesta de fin de año. La misma tuvo una duración de tres horas, el día 16 de diciembre después que ellos ya estaban de vacaciones; y la condición era venir con la franela puesta y cualquier otro atuendo navideño. Días antes yo estuve en el estadio, en un juego de béisbol y en ese encuentro repartieron unos mechudos, no se como lo llaman en otros países. Pompones quizás? Son los que utilizan las porristas en las manos para animar eventos deportivos.

Once the T-shirts were ready, I organized an end-of-year party for them in collaboration with their parents. The party lasted three hours on December 16, after they had already started their vacation, and the condition was that they had to come wearing the T-shirt and any other Christmas attire. A few days earlier, I had been at the stadium for a baseball game, and at that game they handed out pom-poms, or whatever they're called in other countries. Maybe pompoms? They're the things cheerleaders use in their hands to cheer at sporting events.

Mientras me venía, estuve recogiendo varios y me los traje para la fiesta,🤣😂😅 ellos jugaron, bailaron, cantaron, comieron y disfrutamos todos de la actividad. Mi hermana y mi sobrina me apoyaron y me colaboraron en la celebración del compartir navideño de tareas dirigidas. Hubo rifas, juegos, premios y cotillones; los cuales ellos disfrutaron y agradecieron de la actividad. Sus padres también quedaron muy satisfechos.

While I was coming, I picked up several and brought them to the party. They played, danced, sang, ate, and we all enjoyed the activity. My sister and niece supported me and helped me with the Christmas celebration of guided activities. There were raffles, games, prizes, and party favors, which they enjoyed and appreciated. Their parents were also very satisfied.

Por mi parte agradezco a Dios todos los días, que me haya regalado el Don de ser docente. Agradezco a los padres también por confiar en mí, mi casa, mi familia, mis valores y sobre todo mi trabajo. Gracias a todos estos elementos, hemos consolidado un "Club de Tareas Dirigidas" (así me gusta llamarlo) 😉maravilloso y eficiente; ya se están viendo los frutos de las tareas. Los resultados se observaron en la boleta del primer lapso y en función a las observaciones de las maestras estamos trabajando para mejorar las debilidades observadas en ese período. Por esto y todo lo demás puedo decir: ¡Gracias!

For my part, I thank God every day for giving me the gift of being a teacher. I also thank the parents for trusting me, my home, my family, my values, and above all, my work. Thanks to all these elements, we have established a wonderful and efficient “Guided Homework Club” (as I like to call it) 😉, and we are already seeing the fruits of our labor. The results were seen in the first term report card, and based on the teachers' observations, we are working to improve the weaknesses observed during that period.
