I Am Alive Challenge 11.06.22 - Country Joys

Hi friends, it's the beginning of the holiday weekend (Russia Day, so we have the whole four days off) and this Saturday we decided to go out into the nature and have a BBQ with friends.

As many people do the same these days, we left early to get a better spot and made it to our favorite oak grove, near a flooded quarry. There is a wind farm around this place, so these places look fantastic.

The main dish was pork shoulder, which was marinated for 6 hours with onions, red peppers, paprika and salt beforehand. For the last hour we added a little vinegar to the marinade, since the shoulder is denser than the neck, which we usually take and needed to "soften the meat".

As a "special effect" was the coolest sauce RT (HDX) Moloko, from my friend (who runs a black metal label by the way) with grapefruit, coconut and exotic hot peppers. He makes sauces several times a year, in very small batches, and it's a real culinary underground :)

Our girls made some very tasty baked potatoes in a wig beforehand, bought fresh tortillas on the way, and fresh herbs - parsley and cilantro, so it was a good lunch. Specially for my friends, I brought another bottle of Bad Trip Tiki - a sauce from Moscow Underdog bar, with habanero peppers, Trinidad Scorpion, pineapple puree and passion fruit seeds, so it turned out even more delicious.

In the afternoon it got very hot, about 35'C, so some of our friends decided to go for a swim, even though the water in the quarry was not yet warm, and then we walked around the neighborhood and had a great time. My wife and I also found a strawberry meadow, so we'll have an excuse to go back and pick some berries - they're ripening now :)

In the evening we cleaned up the clearing (it's very important when you go on nature trips!!!), so that next time we would come to a clean place, and went home and lay down to rest. After all, rest and travel is great, and after a week at the computer to spend the whole day in the fresh air - it's just great.
