Many types of fish are sold there ranging from tuna, squid, catfish, and cork fish. On Thursday I came there to shop for fresh fishes from the fishermen's catch, I went there to buy fresh squid, because a little late I got some tuna sold per kilo. The selling price per kilo is Rp. 35,000 and that's still quite affordable for the general public. Fish in this market are sold much cheaper than other places. For you to know, the price starts from IDR 30,000 per kilogram to hundreds of thousands depending on the type and size of the fish.

Fish Prices and Bad Weather
It is now the rainy season in Indonesia; the rain with high intensity makes it difficult for fishermen to get fish in the sea. Strong storm winds forced them to delay sailing to fish. The price of fish also soared and people turned to buy fish such as milkfish, shrimp, and other freshwater fish even though prices also rose due to the large number of people's needs.

I love the traditional fish markets! I lived on the water all my life and am used to the boats coming in with their catch of the day. You have shown off how they set up and distribute. A nice array of fish.

It is too bad with the high winds and I feel their pain, trying to keep the people fed during these times. Thank you for taking the time to put a post together for the challenge. I hope you will join again! Thank you so much for being a part of #MarketFriday! I am so happy to see such an awesome response to the challenge. The response was overwhelming this week, so I apologize for the brevity, It was a holiday weekend and I had family from out of town since Wednesday, so time is not mine. I promise you, I am never this short! :)

#MarketFriday has evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact of what is normal for where you live? These are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I can only hope this to be true.

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

Rules of the Road to Join #MarketFriday!

  1. Go to the market, or anywhere that you pay money for a service.
    Take pictures! Be creative!
  2. Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost?
  3. Post the picture(s) Of course, you should tell a little bit about the ones you post
  4. Use the MarketFriday Community Platform to post #hive-196308 (this is not required, but appreciated)
    5. Drop the link into the MarketFriday comment section so I can find it
  5. Following me and reblogging the post so more see it would be appreciated !! Not a rule, just appreciated, more vision for more views on your posts!
    7. You must put #MarketFriday by @dswigle somewhere on your post. If you don't and someone reads it, there is nothing to tie #MarketFriday to that post.
  6. Please only one post each week. Believe it not, I run out of voting power if you put in many more than that.

As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you!
