"Lo que mi madre no decía" [Esp-Eng]

En un mundo tan difícil y cambiante, suele ser un verdadero reto el poder sacar adelante a la familia, brindarle el cuidado y bienestar que cada miembro necesita sin dejar de alimentar esos sentimientos que nos unen y nos impulsan a seguir sin rendirse ante nada. En este aspecto, también es encomiable la labor que hoy muchas mujeres hacen, esas madres solteras que son un ejemplo para toda familia y también para la sociedad.

Cada vez es más común ver a muchas madres asumiendo el rol protagónico en la familia. Sea por una o muchas circunstancias, desarrollan el papel de padre y madre a la vez, lo cual llevan a cabo de manera diligente, con la actitud necesaria para asumir las responsabilidades que llevarán el rumbo de la familia. Cuando se trata de la crianza de uno o varios hijos, temas de estudio, alimentación, educación, hobbies y hábitos sanos salen al escenario en donde muchas madres toman el rol y el guion que las pueda llevar al éxito que redunda en la felicidad de todos.

Precisamente ante este planteamiento surge mi pregunta: ¿Cómo hacen las madres para sacar adelante a una familia? ¿Cuál es el secreto? Es impresionante la respuesta que podemos encontrar con respecto a este tema, y es que a pesar de que no hay una regla o patrón perfecto, lo cierto es que muchas madres han alcanzado el éxito que toda familia espera desplegar desde su núcleo y en aporte a la sociedad. En el caso de los hijos, puede ser bastante significativo lo que nuestras madres han hecho y están haciendo por nosotros, una acción digna del mayor de todos los premios que puedan existir.

Cuando era un niño de tan solo 9 años, recuerdo muchas de las cosas que mi madre hacía, pero difícilmente entendía lo que había detrás de todo eso. El esfuerzo y la dedicación con la que mi madre atendía el hogar y las necesidades de sus tres hijos era algo que a la comprensión de un niño quizás pasaba desapercibido, pero el poder recordarlas ahora y reflexionar en ellas demuestra el logro alcanzado por parte de mi madre. En este aspecto,, me gustaría destacar algunas acciones en las que mi mamá, sin decir nada, hacía mucho por sus hijos.

La ocupación de mi mamá es costurera, y por muchos años esa fue la fuente de trabajo para mantener a la familia. A veces, la situación solía ser tan apremiante que teníamos para el desayuno pero no para la cena, lo cual para una madre podía ser una situación alarmante. En el caso de ella, recuerdo su frase “Dios proveerá”, y así de un momento a otro llegaba alguien solicitando un trabajo de costura que mi mamá realizaba en poco tiempo. Para ese momento, coser un ruedo de pantalón o cambiar algunos cierres daba para poder comprar y preparar una buena comida.

En ocasiones, yo me levantaba a media noche para ir al baño, y al salir de mi habitación lo primero que veía era a mi madre sentada frente a su máquina aprovechando esos períodos en los que le abundaban los trabajos. Cabe destacar que la máquina que mi mamá usa es marca Singer y esa ha sido una máquina de coser guerrera, el corcel con el que mi mamá ha librado mil y un trabajo de costura. Esa máquina aún funciona, siendo una verdadera reliquia para todos nosotros pues ha sido la compañera fiel de mi madre.

Otra de las facetas en las que mi mamá destacaba era a la hora de hacer las tareas con nosotros. Todavía no sé cómo hacía para tener el tiempo y dedicación necesaria para cada uno de nosotros. Siendo tres hijos casi en edades seguidas, para mí mamá era un curso intensivo que sabía manejar con total comodidad, como si se tratara de nuestra maestra de clases. De todas las cosas que me enseñó, destaco el poder de la naturalidad para poder hacer una exposición sobre algún tema. Nos ponía frente a ella y nos hacía desarrollar la exposición hasta que quedara muy bien, sin ayuda de alguna nota o papel y hablando de manera entendible.

Con todo esto, lo más admirable en mi madre es que ella jamás hablaba de todos los sacrificios que hacía por nosotros. Nunca se quejó por el trabajo ni se excusó en no tener tiempo para estar con nosotros . Supo cultivar buenos hábitos en mis hermanos y en mí, y es una maestra excelente y diligente a pesar de que nunca llegó a tener algún título o un estudio superior al bachillerato. Jamás la he escuchado reprochar algún trabajo o esfuerzo invertido en la familia, y hoy sigue siendo una mujer capaz y ejemplar.

Estoy totalmente seguro que hoy existen muchas mujeres que, al igual que mi madre, demuestran ser el fundamento sólido para sus hijos, alguien con quién contar para seguir adelante. Son muchas las cosas que se esconden detrás del trabajo y las ocupaciones que una madre lleva a cabo para alcanzar el bienestar de sus hijos, y mucho más es lo que nosotros como hijos podemos agradecer y valorar a través de nuestra vida. Así que valgan unas palabras de encomio y aprecio para todas esas madres que sin decir mucho, hacen hasta lo imposible por la prosperidad y la felicidad de la familia.

In such a difficult and changing world, it is often a real challenge to be able to move the family forward, to provide the care and well-being that each member needs, while still nurturing those feelings that unite us and drive us to continue without giving up in the face of anything. In this aspect, it is also commendable the work that many women do today, those single mothers who are an example for every family and also for society.

It is increasingly common to see many mothers assuming the leading role in the family. Whether by one or many circumstances, they develop the role of father and mother at the same time, which they carry out diligently, with the necessary attitude to assume the responsibilities that will take the course of the family. When it comes to raising one or more children, issues of study, nutrition, education, hobbies and healthy habits come to the stage where many mothers take the role and the script that can lead to success that results in the happiness of all.

Precisely with this in mind, my question arises: How do mothers manage to move a family forward? What is the secret? It is impressive the answer that we can find regarding this issue, and is that although there is no rule or perfect pattern, the truth is that many mothers have achieved the success that every family hopes to deploy from its core and in contribution to society. In the case of children, it can be quite significant what our mothers have done and are doing for us, an action worthy of the greatest of all the awards that can exist.

When I was a child as young as 9 years old, I remember many of the things my mother did, but I hardly understood what was behind it all. The effort and dedication with which my mother attended to the home and the needs of her three children was something that to a child's understanding perhaps went unnoticed, but to be able to remember them now and reflect on them shows the achievement on my mother's part. In this regard, I would like to highlight some actions in which my mother, without saying anything, did a lot for her children.

My mother's occupation is a seamstress, and for many years that was the source of work to support the family. At times, the situation used to be so dire that we had enough for breakfast but not enough for dinner, which for a mother could be an alarming situation. In her case, I remember her phrase "God will provide", and so from one moment to the next someone would arrive requesting a sewing job which my mom would do in no time. By that time, sewing a trouser hem or changing a few zippers was enough to buy and prepare a good meal.

Sometimes I would get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, and when I came out of my room the first thing I saw was my mother sitting in front of her machine, taking advantage of those periods when she had plenty of work to do. It is worth mentioning that the machine my mother uses is Singer brand and that has been a warrior sewing machine, the steed with which my mother has fought a thousand and one sewing jobs. That machine still works, being a true relic for all of us because it has been my mother's faithful companion.

Another facet in which my mom excelled was when it came to doing chores with us. I still don't know how she managed to have the time and dedication necessary for each one of us. With three children almost at the same age, it was a crash course for my mom that she was able to handle with total comfort, as if she was our homeroom teacher. Of all the things she taught me, I highlight the power of naturalness to be able to make a presentation on any subject. She would put us in front of her and make us develop the presentation until it was very well done, without the help of any notes or paper and speaking in an understandable way.

With all this, the most admirable thing about my mother is that she never talked about all the sacrifices she made for us. She never complained about work or excused herself for not having time to be with us. She cultivated good habits in my siblings and me, and she is an excellent and diligent teacher even though she never had any degree or education beyond high school. I have never heard her reproach any work or effort invested in the family, and today she continues to be a capable and exemplary woman.

I am absolutely sure that today there are many women who, like my mother, prove to be a solid foundation for their children, someone to count on to keep them going. There are many things that hide behind the work and occupations that a mother carries out to achieve the welfare of her children, and much more is what we as children can thank and appreciate through our lives. So let us say a few words of praise and appreciation for all those mothers who, without saying much, do the impossible for the prosperity and happiness of the family.
