Exotic pets are not common animals; when they make a public appearance, they look different and fascinating to people. However, they also need special care and attention regarding their upkeep.

I would love to have a German Dog as an exotic pet. I have desired having a dog as a pet, but my family hasn’t allowed me to express that interest in reality. I have seen German Dogs used in detective films for recoveries and special assignments, such as in the airport or during an investigation. German dogs, also, when trained, bond with humans and are very smart and pay attention to details. Apt to instructions and would never miss an enemy target.

Dogs generally are loyal animals, and when trained, can be unique in the neighbourhood. We once had a neighbour that have German Shepherd dog, a female and a male. Their names are Mars and Chloe. I do not know how they got to know all the tenants living in that compound.

One day, a woman visited the owner, thinking that the dogs were in their cage, she sneaked in, and immediately Mars raced after her with his barks. The woman, in turn, picked race and rushed upstairs, but she couldn’t beat Mars to the game as Mars caught up with her. The woman, out of fear, fell and rolled down the stairs. However, Mars did not hurt her; he just held the woman on her clothes until the owners came to her rescue.

Furthermore, at night, when it kills intruding animals, it will keep them till morning to show the owner. German dogs are very friendly, and their level of intelligence and strength make them outstanding as exotic pets.

Though it is expensive to maintain and train, a German Shepherd dog is a combination of intelligence, security, and friendliness. Hence, my choice of the German Shepherd as my exotic pet is based on the qualities I have seen and witnessed in the breed.
