At school we had an activity with the children where they had to plant lily pads in tribute to a public figure who passed away on April 27, 2021 and our grade had to plant the lilies that they brought in front of our classroom. Not all the children brought the lilies because they did not have that type of plant in their homes, but those who did were very happy to start planting.
The land is not suitable for planting some plants because it has a lot of grea and the soil is hard, besides this we have another limitation which is water, the school does not have water, from time to time a cistern comes to the school and supplies water to the tanks, but these tanks are for cleaning the bathrooms, cleaning the kitchen and the classrooms. In order to water our plants, each child must bring a container of water from home.
We have had a banana plantation for almost three years and because of the lack of water our plants have not yet yielded a single bunch of bananas.
Some time ago, with the help of the children and some representatives, we planted eggplant plants and also some chili bell pepper plants, but not all of them gave us fruit. Another plant that we sow frequently is the chives because this plant does not need so much humidity and it is small.
The kids decided to plant the lilies around the one in the pine bush in front of our living room as we were observing the place and that seemed to be the ideal place for our new friends.
Some children were just spectators, the children watched with curiosity, but were afraid to get their hands dirty, however, other children did take the risk and collaborated in the work of opening the holes to plant the lilies which were brought from their homes in small plastic containers.
Two of the lily plants that the children planted had a small bud each and to our surprise the next day after planting those two buds bloomed adorning our small garden which generated a great joy to the students to observe that the plants they planted with their own hands and with their effort had flourished.
To be successful in our gardening projects at the institution, we must do a great job removing the soil and buying compost. We have also made organic compost by asking the children to bring the peels, shells and remains of the vegetables they use in their homes to In this way, we can help improve the land and in this way be able to plant and gather the crops and the fruits of our plantation and this work encourages the children to be kind to the plants, to want to take care of them and respect them.

No todos los niños trajeron los lirios porque no tenían ese tipo de planta en sus hogares, pero los que lo trajeron estaban bien contentos de comenzar a sembrar.
El terreno no es apto para sembrar algunas plantas ya tiene mucha grea y la tierra es dura, además de esto tenemos otra limitante que es el agua, la escuela no cuenta con agua, cada cierto tiempo viene una cisterna a la escuela y surte de agua los tanques, pero estos tanques son para la limpieza de los baños, la limpieza de la cocina y de los salones. Para poder regar nuestras plantas cada niño debe traer un envase con agua de su casa.
Tenemos una plantación de plátanos desde hace casi tres años y por falta de agua todavía no ha cargado ni un racimo de plátanos nuestras plantas.
En ese terreno se han dado pocos rubros por el mal estado de la tierra y la falta de agua, hace algún tiempo sembramos con la ayuda de los niños y de algunos representantes plantas de berenjenas y también algunas plantas de ají pero, no todas nos dieron frutos. Otra de las plantas que sembramos con frecuencia es el cebollín ya que esta planta no necesita tanta humedad y es pequeña
Los niños decidieron plantar los lirios alrededor de la de la mata de pino que está enfrente de nuestro salón ya que estuvimos observando el lugar y ese parecía ser el sitio ideal para nuestras nuevas amigas
Algunos niños solo estaban de espectadores, los niños miraban con curiosidad, pero tenían miedo de ensuciarse las manos sin embargo, otros niños sí se arriesgaron y colaboraron en el trabajo de abrir los huecos para plantar los lirios los cuales fueron traídos desde sus hogares en pequeños envases de plástico
Dos de las plantas de lirio que sembraron los niños traían un capullo pequeño cada una y para nuestra sorpresa al siguiente día de haberlas plantado esos dos capullos florecieron adornando nuestro pequeño jardín lo que generó una gran alegría a los estudiantes al observar que las plantas que ellos mismos plantaron con sus manitas y con su esfuerzo habían florecido
Para tener éxito en nuestros proyectos de jardinería en la institución debemos de hacer un gran trabajo removiendo la tierra y comprando abono, también podríamos realizar abono orgánicos solicitarle a los niños que traigan las cáscaras, conchas y restos de las hortalizas que utilicen en sus hogares para así poder ayudar a mejorar la tierra y de esta forma poder plantar y recoger las cosechas y los frutos de nuestra plantación y esta labor incentiva a los niños a ser amables con las plantas a quererlas cuidarlas y respetarlas.
