Community Contest #4 / Paula came back to life (Eng/ Esp)

"At mid-afternoon Dr. Forrester appeared and confirmed that something had changed in the state of the sick woman..."everything was calm, but there was something different, after a year of remaining in coma, that afternoon Paula was noticed with a strange serenity that made everyone present there, filled with some uncertainty, could it be that tonight would be the farewell, that everyone feared?

The atmosphere was very strange, but at the same time everything seemed so out of this world. Isabel and her mother set about the task of cleaning her up and making her presentable for whatever the scenario might be, they wanted her to be as beautiful as ever. Isabel was very tired, but still hoping that her beautiful daughter would wake up from her enforced sleep as if nothing had happened. They all arranged themselves as best they could in Paula's room, some at her feet, others at her bedside, her husband on one side, Isabel on the other, waiting for whatever would happen, God's will be done.

The hours passed, the doctor said goodbye timidly, told them to call her if they had any news and left. They all stayed, without wanting to leave Paula's side, they remained next to that body that continued as if in a sweet dream; in the end they were all overcome by fatigue and fell asleep. It had been a whole year, in which they had not slept a full night, especially Isabel, she fell asleep dreaming that she saw Paula smiling and calling her "mommy, mommy..."

Her dreams were restless, she kept dreaming that Paula was calling her at first softly, faintly, but then she heard her more distinctly, right in her right ear, her daughter was calling her: _"Mommy wake up, mommy ", very slowly, Isabel opened her eyes, thinking, she was still dreaming, when when she fully opened her eyes, she saw Paula watching her, with a tender smile. Isabel could not believe the miracle that was happening, Paula was coming back to life!

Her heart was pounding with emotion, it kept telling her that she was awake and her tears and cries of excitement were not long in coming, everyone woke up with her cries and could not believe their eyes, Paula was awake, smiling at them. Everything was joyful, they could not find what to do, they called the doctor again, she came running to check Paula, everything was going well, now new tests, checkups and therapies were coming, but it was a miracle.

A new day arrived, the doctors had already checked Paula and everything was miraculously in order, now would come a slow process of recovery, but Paula was alive again, she smiled, she spoke little, but she did it, nobody could believe it; at home everyone remembered that bottle of champagne they had saved, for when Paula woke up, they uncorked it and toasted for her and for life. Isabel hugged her daughter like a baby, thanking God for this new opportunity.

Joining the contest of this brilliant community, I share with you my happy ending of my favorite book, I hope you like it. I invite my friends @annafenix and @ismaelgranados to surprise us with their creativity.

Uno de los libros, que me llegaron profundamente, fue sin dudas Paula, de una de mis autoras favoritas, Isabel Allende, quizás porque el tema tratado, la perdida de su hija Paula, hace que me sienta identificada en su dolor como madre, pues perder a un hijo no es cosa fácil, es una herida que nunca cierra completamente.

Quien ha leído el libro y cuando llega al final, queda con esa sensación de haber querido que el final fuese otro, no la muerte de la protagonista, al final de tantas luchas, por traerla a la vida, nos queda esa sensación de perdida, tristeza y terrible duelo, a pesar de que Isabel, tuvo una forma muy de ella, poética, bella, de despedir a su amada hija para el otro mundo y eso hace que uno se sienta trasladado a ese cuarto de Paula, para acompañar su espíritu junto a Isabel y ella en ese último recorrido, como narra Isabel...

Pero a mí me hubiese gustado otro final y empieza así:

"A media tarde se presentó la doctora Forrester y confirmó que algo había cambiado en el estado de la enferma..."todo estaba en calma, pero había algo diferente, después de un año de permanecer en coma, esa tarde Paula se le notaba, con una extraña serenidad que hacía que todos los allí presentes, se llenaran con cierta incertidumbre, ¿seria que esta noche sería la despedida, que todos temían?

El ambiente estaba muy raro, pero a la vez todo se veía, como tan fuera de este mundo. Isabel y su madre, se dieron a la tarea, de asearla y ponerla presentable, para sea cual fuese el escenario, querían que ella estuviera hermosa como siempre. Isabel, estaba muy cansada, pero aun con la esperanza de que su bella hija, despertara de ese sueño obligado, como si nada hubiese pasado. Todos se arreglaron lo mejor que pudieron en la habitación de Paula, unos a sus pies, otros en su cabecera, su esposo en uno de sus costados, Isabel en el otro, esperando lo que tuviera bien a suceder, voluntad de Dios seria.

Pasaron las horas, la doctora se despidió tímidamente, les dijo que cualquier novedad le llamaran y se marchó. Todos se quedaron, sin querer retirarse del lado de Paula, permanecieron al lado de aquel cuerpo que seguía como en un dulce sueño; al final a todos los venció el cansancio y se quedaron dormidos. Había sido todo un año, en que no habían dormido una noche completa, sobre todo Isabel, ella se quedó dormida soñando que veía a Paula sonriendo y llamándola "mamá, mamá..."

Sus sueños eran inquietos, seguía soñando que Paula la llamaba al principio suavemente, débilmente, pero luego la oyó con más nitidez, justo en su oído derecho, su hija la llamaba: _"Mamá despierta, mamá", muy lentamente, Isabel abrió los ojos, pensando, que todavía aún soñaba, cuando al abrir completamente la mirada, vio a Paula observándola, con una tierna sonrisa. ¡Isabel no podía creer el milagro que estaba ocurriendo, Paula volvía a la vida!

Su corazón desbocado de emoción, no paraba de indicarle que estaba despierta y sus lágrimas y gritos de emoción, no se hicieron esperar, todos despertaron con los gritos de ella y no podían creer, lo que sus ojos veían, Paula estaba despierta, sonriéndoles. Todo era algarabía, no hallaban que hacer, llamaron a la doctora de nuevo, esta llego corriendo revisando a Paula, todo estaba marchando bien, ahora vendrían nuevos exámenes, chequeos y terapias, pero era un milagro.

Llegó un nuevo día, ya los médicos habían chequeado a Paula y todo estaba milagrosamente en orden, ahora vendría un proceso lento de recuperación, pero Paula vivía de nuevo, sonreía, hablaba poco, pero lo hacía, nadie podía creerlo; ya en casa todos recordaron aquella botella de champaña que habían guardado, para cuando Paula despertara, la destaparon y brindaron por ella y por la vida. Isabel abrazaba a su hija como un bebé, dándole las gracias a Dios por esta nueva oportunidad.
