In-N-Out Burger - Show Us Your California

avatar

Hi Friends,

This post is an entry into the weekly Show Us Your California contest hosted by @thesocalhive where we share an aspect of our California.

One of the iconic food symbols of California is In-N-Out Burger. This is a chain of of hamburger restaurants that started in California and have been slow to expand, despite many accolades and successes. The burger chain in privately owned, and they focus on easy to reach areas off major auto thoroughfares. Their menu is basic and little changed since it founding decades ago, but they are committed to freshness and do not use any freezers, as their distribution centers are located to serve all restaurants in an area. They have a “secret” menu where you can customize your order if you know the lingo. Examples are “animal style” burger, which is a thousand island type dressing and includes pickles, and the “flying Dutchman” which has chopped chilies on the burger. The fries are cut in hand pressed machines and visible to the customer watching the team do their magic.

Personally, I am a big fan and this is my go-to burger joint. I order the Double Double, Animal Style as my favorite burger. The kids always enjoy it too, and we enjoyed it this evening :)

They are slowly expanding in the US, but are still mostly on the west coast (though Texas is getting some locations now as well), so if you are in the area, give their burgers a try!

Thanks for coming by and checking out a piece of my California,
Brian

We were in Cali last week (5/28-6/1) and dinner our first night was In-N-Out. It still surprises me how loooooong the lines are! The food was tasty of course. 🍔

It was lovely as always! 😍 Second time back to Disney this year and our first time to Santa Barbara since before covid times. If I had ALL the money I would move to SB in a heartbeat! 🙂

My friend showed me how to get sliced peppers. I didn't know it was called a "Flying Dutchman". Yum, double double is great. The City or Bellflower... or Paramount... has and older one. I was telling a few younger kids about it. They believed me when I mentioned the stone tables and seats in front.
It also have a double drive though with the kitchen in the middle.
Would you down vote my comment, slash my tires, and steal my stapler if I said, "I like 5 guys better?"
Cuz I don't think I actually do...
Have a nice day.

I have experienced that some unpopular hamburger restaurants make better hamburgers than the known brands.

It's a happy moment. Children love to eat burgers, the situation is becoming normal again.
