It's Today

"Never before has it been heard that a professor didn't obtain his PhD to become a professor or how else can you make us better understand the story you making us grasp," Chike said as he stared directly into the mind of Benita.
Just as Benita talks too much that she always go far beyond truth and the funny part is that she knows this but I guess we are all who we are. The notion that people change is yet to be fully comprehended because as long as we are living and go through different experiences in life, we switch characters to the one that best suits the situation. For Benita, it's ridiculous talks but at the end she comes out better.

"Chike, are you saying that what I'm saying is not true? I actually have an uncle that is a professor and he doesn't have a PhD and if you doubt me, we'd give him a call to end all this." Benita's voice was getting lower but heavy as her look was filled with surprise. She looks like she's pretty sure about what she's saying that Chike himself was almost convinced and agreed with her to cheer her up but at this point she's said that they could call so the proof is just within reach why not just reach. The two friends don't always end up in such states as they always do laugh all there discussions up even when it becomes an argument.
Today however is not that type of day they both can feel the aura between them was intense and just laughing it out or letting it go as usual wouldn't suffice.

"Alright, let's do it," Chike said as he rolled his eyes pass Benita looking over to the clock.
" Do what? was the reply that hit choke that brought his eye back to her. It was quite obvious that Chike had other plans for the day because Benita is sure that choke only looks at the time as he just did when he has other plans lined up.
"It's only noon, where are you going? Benita continued.

"Which one am I answering, do what or where are you going? Let's call your uncle, the Prof, Chike said with a chuckle.
At this point Benita was not having it easy with Chike as her entire attitude changed. It's not new for Benita to flip attitudes because it's one of her trick to get away with when she says something wrong and feels she's about too get caught. Absolutely, the two friends have started playing mind games with themselves but I guess today would be the day for us to see what they all had up their sleeves.

"Why are you looking at the clock, Chike, going anywhere?" Benita asked as Chike calmly replied, *"no."
"Let's just call your uncle and confirm the story you're telling me" as he brought his phone out of his pocket.

####### phone rings

"Hello, Professor Sam speaking."
Everywhere became quiet for a while before Chike shoved Benita lightly then she clears her throat.
"Yeah, Uncle guess who it is," Benita responds.

Professor pretends as if he were thinking, " Oh, my lovely Benita, tell me you aren't the one now," Prof laughs out, "how you doing?"
"I'm fine just wanted to confirm a story you told once, sorry for whatever inconvenience I may be causing."
Chike raised his head in Surprise and drops it back down and continues staring at the ground.
" No problem."

"You once mentioned you became a Professor without having your PhD can you confirm that?" Benita asked filled with hope.
" Yes, I did." Benita shouted "yes" kicking Chike who seated opposite her listening.
" I actually misplaced my doctorate degree when I came back to the country and applied for my professorship, altough it was granted because I was known among my peers and those in charge. It wasn't like I never did have my PhD only that it wasn't available at the time.''
"Okay, uncle thanks for clearing the air," as she responded with disappointment without looking at Chike.
"Anything else or that's all?"
"That's all, take care of yourself."

Chike picked his phone up and smiled looking at the clock then rising to his feet and stretch his hand to Benita, "* let's go eat.* It was clear to Benita that today is actually the day she has to change her uncertainty attitude.
