Mental vs. physical exhaustion


We have all experienced at some point in our lives when we do not know whether our body or our mind hurts. It is difficult for us to understand ourselves in those moments and we tend to take wrong solutions trying to find an improvement.

Today I am going to talk about Physical Exhaustion and Mental Exhaustion, how they are related to each other, their causes and consequences for the body.

Agotamiento mental vs. físico


Todos hemos vivido alguna vez algún momento de nuestra vida en el cual no sepamos distinguir si nos duele el cuerpo o la mente. Se nos hace difícil entendernos en esos momentos y tendemos increíblemente a tomar soluciones equivocadas intentando buscar una mejoría.

Hoy te voy a hablar del Agotamiento Físico y del Agotamiento Mental, que relación tiene el uno con el otro, sus causas y consecuencias para el cuerpo.

Sin más que decir, comenzamos.

To begin with, I am going to define what for me is Mental and Physical Exhaustion. Mental Exhaustion corresponds to a state in which you feel saturated by doing work that can generate stress or feelings of fatigue beyond your body.

In the case of Physical Exhaustion corresponds to the type of exhaustion that is produced in the body by performing any activity that involves physical exercise or motor work.

Both types of exhaustion or conditions go hand in hand, since one can cause or develop the other. Personally, I have lived in multiple situations in which my mental fatigue causes me physical discomfort, from hip pain, neck pain, among others.

Para iniciar, voy a definir lo que para mi es Agotamiento Mental y Físico. Agotamiento Mental corresponde a un estado en el que te sientes saturado por realizar labores que puedan generar estrés o sentimiento de cansancio más allá de tu cuerpo.

En el caso de Agotamiento Físico corresponde al tipo de agotamiento que se produce en el cuerpo por realizar alguna actividad que involucre ejercicio físico o trabajo motor.

Ambos tipos de agotamientos o condiciones van de la mano, ya que una puede causar o desarrollar la otra. En lo personal, he vivido en múltiples situaciones en las que mi cansancio mental me ocasiona molestias físicas, desde dolores de cadera, dolores en el cuello, entre otros.

When dealing with this type of issues, we must always start by looking for the cause, the root of the problem, so we can directly attack it and solve the issue. The question that arises after reading this part of the article is: In what ways can we treat this?

My personal strategy consists of resting the mind for small periods, a matter of relaxing the muscle of the mind through doing other things like meditating, watching your favorite TV show, watching series, among others.

To attack an issue related to physical pain, it seems to me that the approach we should take is to relax the body with strategies such as hot water baths, massages and even taking a nap.

This article seeks to create awareness in the reader about how important it is to maintain a balance in the body through constant treatment and periodic work on the mind and body either by daily therapies or other strategies linked to balance.

Al momento de tratar este tipo de temas, siempre debemos iniciar por buscar la causa, la raíz del problema, de esta forma podemos atacar directamente la misma y solventar el tema. La pregunta que surge luego de leer esta parte del artículo es: ¿De qué formas podemos tratar esto?

Mi estrategia personal consiste en descansar la mente por periodos pequeños, cuestión de relajar el músculo de la mente a través de hacer otras cosas como meditar, ver tu show de tv preferido, ver series, entre otros.

Para atacar un tema vinculado a dolores físicos me parece que el enfoque que debemos tomar es en relajar el cuerpo con estrategias como baños de agua caliente, masajes e incluso tomar una siesta.

Este artículo busca crear conciencia en el lector sobre lo importante que es mantener un balance en el cuerpo a través del trato constante y trabajo periodico en la mente y el cuerpo ya sea por terapias diarias u otras estrategias vinculadas al balance.
