CROCHET MOTHER'S DAY JEWELRY

Hello everyone! It's exciting to take part in this initiative by the NeedleWorkMonday community, where we create mothers day jewelry for our mothers or anyone who is like a mother to us. I love it because it allows us to appreciate the ones closest to our hearts.

I have never made something crochet-related for my mom since I started crocheting. Yes, I have made a few dresses for my mom but never have I made anything crochet-related. The interesting thing is that this will also be the first time I am making crochet jewelry. So, I didn't have trouble picking who I was going to make it for, and I wanted to make something special for her.

Deciding what to make for her didn't come easy. I wanted to make something beautiful and something she would really cherish so it had to be big. As I thought long and hard about what to make, I remembered that my mom is a very simple person, I have gotten her gifts in the past and she wasn't bothered about how big or luxurious it was. She was only happy that we thought of her enough to get her something.

So I settled for a simple necklace and earrings to match. I am a lover of dark colors and my mom is a lover of all colors, so I decided to use the color orange, it's a bright color and I want something that signifies how happy and bright I want her to be for the great of her days.

Making the design was quite easy. I used a 2mm hook, to start I made the earring first. Although they all have the same pattern, I just made 3 pieces of the individual design. Adding the hooks to the earring, I realized I needed another ring to connect them which is different from the earring hook. Since I had no prior knowledge, I didn't get them when I went to get the materials.

I was confused about what to do. An idea came that I could use one of my smaller crochet hooks to pass the yarn and just tie the knot. I never appreciated my 0.75mm hook till that moment. Although I did bend my 3mm hook accidentally during that struggle 😂 you may be wondering how that happened, well I sat on it😂

My 0.75mm also came in handy to attach the black beads for the necklace. I choose black beads to add to the necklace, the reason is a little cheesy but I want her to carry a piece of me whenever she wears that necklace. The necklace hook also had the same problem as that of the earrings but I was able to fix them without harming any other hook😂

Well, this is the final result of the crochet jewelry, I can't wait to see her reaction when I give these to her.

Your jewellery is so lovely, especially the black pearls on the necklace add a lot of interest and anhauche the vorbringet orange color of your crochet lace. I am sure your mother will love your gift.
And with the hook… good you did not hurt yourself while sitting on it :-DDD (by the way I also did this with knitting needles… )

Thankfully I only hurt the poor needles (my husband tried to straighten them again, but they were lost)
And thank you for the compliment... The photo was a fun shoot for an art project. It was called "the monkeys are out to eat you" and as you can see I was one of the monkeys in pink fur :-DDDD

I wish I could knit, I see that you do such beautiful things, that I think it would be worth spending 3 days with a sore neck, to do something like that hahaha

Is it difficult to knit?

Crocheting is not as hard as it seems, it does take some time for big projects but if you want to learn it is advisable to start with smaller ones and work your way up. You will find out that it is easy and enjoyable.

Thank you for your comment.
