MY PERSONAL MANIFESTO TO MY FUTURE KIDS

Hi everyone here in @hivenaija, wishing everyone the best, All thanks to our tireless community leaders who always work hands in hands to make it a success. And also thanks for this wonderful week prompts.

Children are unique gift, given to us by God, we have to treat them with love, care and guide them till they become adults.

The prompt says...If and when I raised children I"ll never... Share what your dream child raising would never include, whether you have kids now or not. If you are living the dream already still share with us.

I am not yet a mother, but I have things that I will never include while raising my kids.

The first thing I will never include in my child raising is chosing a career for my child, many parents have done this and it's detrimental to the child, this can affect a child mentally, socially and even physically.
I can never force a child who loves music and wants to study music to go and study law. I was once a victim so I wouldn't like any of my children to go through it. During my primary school days, I have always been among the newscaster in my school till I developed a strong feeling and interest for journalism, I kept singing it like a song everyday that I want to become a journalist . After primary school, I was moved to secondary school. After my junior secondary classes (Jss1-Jss3) I was moved to senior science college. Science college, here my hectic journey begins, I told my Dad I don't want to do Science but to no avail. I can remember when my school counselor sat me down and said that I'm very good in art courses and asked me why I came to science college, I told her it was my Dad that forced it upon me . This didn't change anything. I struggled to finish science college.
Although I later enjoy science and my career as an upcoming health educator, permit me to say it wasn't a smooth journey for me.
so I will never choose career for my children. I will only guide them and allow them discover their own passion and interests. Although not what is easy for them, but what is right for them.

The second thing I won't include in my children raising is having a favorite child and even to the extent of making it obvious; This will avoid in the future; hatred, fight, quarrels and frequently misunderstanding each other. I will never spray hatred among my children, I have to love everyone equally, and they must love themselves, I can never condemn a child secretly to the other siblings, but only correct openly in the presence of the other siblings so everyone could learn too. Because parents are the ones to teach their children how to love themselves. This very act of having a favorite child, paying attention to the rest and leaving the rest of the children anxious and hanging is the reason you see grown up siblings not loving themselves, always fighting each other even those at marriageable age and also the are married one's. This is because they parents have instill in them hatred, jealousy etc.
It's usually the father or the mother ( most especially the mother) who cultivate the seed of hatred in their children. Sometimes it might be unknowingly or Knowingly. So I will try by all means to avoid this.

I will never kill my children's confidence, and call it insult, I will never shut them down when they ask questions, I will never let them feel less of them selves. I will never allow others to intimidate them and make them feel like they are not good enough.
I will make sure that they always stand up for the truth and what is right, I will be friendly and open to any conversation my children.

lastly, I will never tell them that their Dad is not good enough, I will never share any argument I have with their father with them, I can forgive my husband but sharing this with my children can give them a negative mindset about their father. My children must love and respect their father. I do not want a situation where a child will go out there and say my Daddy is wicked or a child saying I love my daddy more than my mummy 🤣 and vice versa, l wasn't raised in that manner so it irritates me. My children has to love and be proud of both parents.
If by any virtue I pay the children's fees, it's a secret between me and their father, I won't expose it. I want my children to know that their biggest support system is Dad and Mum.

I think I will stop here for now, this are the things I always say that I will never include while raising my children. Maybe as time goes on there will be other things to add when I start having experience with raising children.

My cousin displays favouritism on his children and the result was a disaster. I think parents shouldn't have any reason not to show equal love to their kids after all, they are all same blood

I love all your points.
My mom displayed favouritism over my siblings and I , today we are still not in good terms because everybody think, mom loves me more than she does to them.

Thanks for sharing these tips, they are 👍

I love all the point you pinned out, displaying favoritism to a particular child is not good treat all your children as one so they will be love among them.
Thanks for sharing this.

All your points are valid and important, mostly that when choosing a career path for children, parents need to do better. Don't force a child to be what they don't want to be.
