Everton Versus Spurs Post from a Spurs perspective

Just after finishing here between Everton and Spurs at Goodison Park. It was Antonio Contes first game in charge and he fielded the same side as he did in Europe on the Thursday before this. This is the first time since 2017 that Tottenham fielded the same team in during the week and the weekend.
Conte went for Loris in goal. 3 at the back. Romero , Dier and Davies. 2 wing backs. Serge Regulian and Emerson Royal. Hojbjerg and Skipp in Midfield and then Son , Moura and Kane up front.
Everton started better but Spurs got into it after around ten minutes with Reguilian missing a few chances. It was a feisty affair and the second half started with Romero the Argentinian and Richarlison the Brazil having an old go at each other. Richarlison got through on goal only to be thwarted by Loris. The ref blew for a penalty much to the delight of the Evertonians and Benetiz but VAR showed that Loris did get a touch on the ball. A sigh of relief was breathed. Spurs then made two changes with Doherty replacing Reguilian and Moura coming off for Los Celso. However both had little affect on the game. If we look at the game , I would say Everton were the better side over the 90 minutes. Ndombele came on in the 83rd minute. Seen as Spurs's playmaker with oceans of talent but could not be arsed really. The Frenchman has much to prove with the new manager. He can never last 90 minutes. Anyway he came on for the last ten minutes. Conte spent the whole waving his players to push up the field as they were programmed to stay back by the previous two managers. However Conte wants them up the pitch so he is giving out to them over sitting back, The final ten minutes seen Spurs on the attack but it was not to be and the game ended in a draw. Not a bad result but disappointed we couldn't sneak the win at the end. There was a bad challenge near the end where referee Chris Kavanagh checked VAR for a possible red card which he gave as the tackle from on Holgate on Hojbjerg. The free kick that was awarded went out for a corner. Corner was terrible and ended up in a foul. The game played out and it finished 0-0.
The internationals are up next so it will give Conte a chance to sort the squad out and work with the players that were not picked for their countries. Hopefully he will find a couple of gems and improve some of the younger kids as he is famous for this.
Even though it was 0-0 I could see a plan and a method finally from Spurs. It was clear to see what Conte was trying to do so overall I am a happy camper. The next 4 games are fairly straight forward for Tottenham as we played the top 6 already.
So it is something to build on today so I'm satisfied with the result. Conte will have them all killed with fitness in a couple of weeks and will bring in a few players in January.
