Hive Offers So Much Yet Too Few Use It

Out of every blockchain I constantly find myself coming back and using hive over anything else. The sheer amount of options it offers makes it ground breaking yet still a bit behind or too slow in terms of development.

I constantly ask myself what holds hive back from hitting hundreds of thousands of users or even millions of users compared to other blockchains and it always comes back to a few things. Let's take a moment and look at all the Hive blockchain currently offers and how we might improve on it.

DeFi

Hive offers a decent sized DeFi network that stems across 3 primary platforms that I currently know about.

Diesel Pools which at the moment house over 75 million dollars worth of Liqudity and have an over 3.91 million volume. That's pretty decent and digging into it we see a VAST majority of that comes from SPS:SWAP.AXS which is axie infinity. There's also the SWAP.AXS:SWAP.SLP these two pools alone account for 68 million of the 75 million. The rest mainly comes from Splinterlands in the form of DEC and SPS.

Other DeFi pools are CUBDeFi and PolyCub which connect hive directly to other blockchains like BNB Smartchain and Polygon (MATIC)

For the most part it seems like gaming is hives big fee generator over anything else and it's why I continue to support projects like Splinterlands

Gaming

Gaming is one of the largest driving factors for Hive right now over anything else. It's about the only area where trading, selling and just overall velocity of crypto is moved for hive. While Splinterlands of course takes the cake there are a number of other gaming platforms on hive and any one of those could take off as well. This really kind of puts Hive on a decently even playing field with the most popular blockchain for gaming which is wax.

Personally I'd love to see the gaming space grow even more however there's key development that needs to happen and that would be solid marketplaces like that of Atomic hub but for the hive blockchain. It's one of the key areas it currently lacks on. While there are plenty of internal marketplaces for these platforms it would be of great benefit for the hive dev team or someone to launch a solid marketplace on hive that support all games. In a way I feel like it's something that Hive core devs should do and offer as a normal running base of their pay.

Social and Web 3

This is going to be a big one however there's a lot of issues with how Hive currently works. Everything posted seems to get posted as a dang blog post and it's very frustrating. I'd love to see the dev team start coming up with solutions for this where some type of API or whatever could be used by applications to still submit data to the chain but not have it show across every front end as a blog post.

This would start to fuel application growth such as LeoThreads and other applications that just struggle with it such as somee, buzz, liketu, 3speak and others. I feel that housing everything on the main chain is a mistake and one of the current greatest flaws and things for application developers to try and overcome.

With that being said Hive is a home and a project I support. I see it striving to new highs and would myself like to start building and pulling in dev work etc. However for that to happen I need to continue stacking and stack faster then ever before. It's something I'm excited for and to support the already existing projects that are making all of this happen. Keep crushing it and lets take hive to all new highs this next bull run. I can easily see hundreds of thousands of people using hive by 2025.

Partially new accounts aren't as easy. Value for doing so is though, which I agree with your points. Maybe some more interactive things like #threads are needed. Unsure..

The way I see it been new to Hive and how I compare it, Hive only have about 5-6 years and already has way more features and dapps than other chains, at some point more and more people will start to look for social media alternatives and Hive is developing that with all the dapps that replace traditional media, in another 5-6 years things will be different, more growth, more dapps, more transactions, more users, this is the best times to keep building ✌️

While up until a few months back I was barely keeping up with various portfolio assets, now I am finding myself having trouble keeping up with everything that is happening on Hive. So many things and you can only be only one place at a time.

It's going to be nice to all of a sudden be a Hive expert whenever the massive waves of new users do finally come. I consider this time period training that way we can all assist the people that weren't here early like us.

I have a feeling hives going to start getting some serious development work over the next two years that will lead to some rather large adoption rates. It's gonna be fun!!

I do just keep seeing projects showing up out of nowhere. Finding them with less than 10 followers and just staying tapped in going forward. Who knows what’ll be the next big things on Hive, but I’m excited. We already have so much.

Called me old-fashioned, but I still like to use the original Hive-Engine for some trading as well. I will have to look more into Diesel pools...
