Design of a simple pouch for grandma from her left over fabric

Hello everyone

It's so nice to be here today in this great community @needleworkmonday and I'm sure you are all having great time with your creativity, I wish you all a great and lovely day as you go out to your daily activities. Sharing with you today from my sewing room is the design of a simple pouch with zipper made from two different fabrics for grandma from pieces of her left over fabric.

Sometimes ago, I made a simple gown outfit cut together with the sleeves for grandma for a wedding and the outfit was looking so nice on her. As I was initially told by grandma that she loves to have side pockets sewn to her outfit which I always do except it it's a skirt and blouse or an outfit that wouldn't need side pockets, after making this particular outfit for grandma, I added 2 sides pocket to it and it was delivered to her.

I was surprised we grandma called to tell me that I should help her to make a bag or pouch just as I usually do with leftover pieces, unfortunately, I have used the remaining pieces to make a head tie for her and I was only left with a small piece.

I had no choice than to combine the small piece with a matching color just to get the desired measurements for the pouch to make this design.

Let me show you how I achieved grandma's request

I trimmed the piece of fabric to 10 x 9.5" and combined it with a plain fabric of 3 x 10"

The two pieces were sewn together and top stitched on

This was used to cut out lining and interfacing while the interfacing was ironed on the main fabric

It was taken to the sewing machine and a matching color zipper was sewn on both sides with the lining and was top stitched on the right side

It was zipped together and from the zipper, I measured 1.5" on the side with the plain fabric

It was folded and sewn on both sides with the handle made from the pieces of fabric sewn to it with the zipper opened to the middle and the excess were trimmed off

It was turned to the right side through the zipper opening and this is the final outcome.

I'm sure grandma will be glad to have this as she has desired. I hope you like the simple and useful design of this pouch.

Thanks so much for your time, support, comment and encouragement. Until my next post, do have a great and productive day.

She was so happy that I could still make this for her even from the little left over pieces. Thanks so much for stopping by.

An extra bonus for grandma, she could use a matching pouch to keep her items safe when she gies out. Well done and thanks for sharing.
