Kayseri Castle / Kayseri Kalesi 🏰

Hello everyone from a beautiful weekend. I have been in Kayseri for a long time but I never had the chance to visit the castle in the square. We recently visited the castle with friends. The entrance gate of the castle in itself evokes a sense of amazement. Although the castle looks small from the outside, we encounter a different world when we enter the gate.

Güzel bir hafta sonundan herkese merhaba. Uzun zamandır Kayseri'deyim ancak bir türlü meydanda bulunan kaleyi gezme fırsatım olmamıştı. Yakın bir zamanda arkadaşlarla birlikte kaleyi ziyaret ettik. Kalenin giriş kapısı başlı başına insanda hayret duygusu uyandırıyor. Kale dışardan küçük görünse de kapıdan içeriye girdiğimizde ayrı bir dünya ile karşılaşıyoruz.

Just to the right and at the end of the entrance you are greeted by trees in large pots. After a little further we come across the city walls. I have visited many castles before but this was the first time I saw large-scale fortifications here.

Girişin hemen sağında ve sonunda büyük saksıların içindeki ağaçlar sizi karşılıyor. Az ilerledikten sonra surlarla karşılaşıyoruz. Daha önce birçok kale gezdim ancak ilk defa geniş çapta surları burada gördüm.

One of the most striking things about this castle is that there are many cafes and restaurants inside. Honestly, I don't know whether having so many places is an advantage or a disadvantage for the atmosphere of the castle, but I saw many young people reading books in these cafes, which is of course pleasing.

Bu kalede benim en çok dikkatimi çeken hususlardan birisi, içerde birçok kafelerin ve restaurantların bulunması. Açıkçası bu kadar çok mekanın bulunması kalenin atmosferi açısından avantaj mı dezavantaj mı bilmiyorum. Ancak bu kafelerde kitap okuyan birçok genç gördüm bunlar tabiki sevindirici.

A museum was built on the lower floor of the castle, but since it was under renovation, we were only able to visit the outer part of the museum. The stone structures that have survived to the present day almost intact caught my eye. The inscriptions and decorations on the stones shed light on the historical and cultural structure of that period. The decorations are especially beautifully carved on the stones. This shows that the people of that period did a great job with limited means. It is debatable which artist today can create such successful works.

Kalenin alt katına müze inşa edilmiş ancak tadilat olduğu için biz sadece müzenin sadece dış kısmını gezebildik. Burada neredeyse hiç bozulmadan günümüze kadar ulaşan taş yapılar gözüme ilişti. Taşların üzerindeki yazılar ve süslemeler o dönemin tarihi ve kültürel yapısına ışık tutuyor. Süslemeler özellikle taşların üzerine çok güzel işlenmiş. Another artifact that caught my attention is a large stone consisting of four sections. What I mean by four sections is that there are four sections of pits on the stone. These sections reminded me of bird feeders. If this idea of mine is correct, it shows us how much animals were valued in the past. To be honest, there was not much detailed information on this part.

Dikkatimi çeken diğer bir eser ise dört bölümden oluşan büyük taş. Dört bölümden kastım, taşın üzerinde çukurdan oluşan dört bölüm var. Bu bölümler bana kuş yemliğini anımsattı. Eğer benim bu düşüncem doğru ise geçmiş dönemlerde hayvanlara ne kadar değer verildiğini bizlere göstermekte. Açıkçası bu kısımda çok detaylı bir bilgi yoktu.

That's mostly all I can remember about the castle. The castle doesn't have many remarkable features but the cafes inside attracted a lot of attention. Thank you for reading and see you soon.
