Just Completed My First Sports Analytics Project! βš½πŸ“Š

I've been updating you all a lot more on my interest in data science which is exciting because I'm actually getting things done. And the more I work on my skills the more confident I feel about actually maneuvering my way around tasks when it comes to data.

I've been using a smaller chat/podcasting app called stereo lately and it's given me the opportunity to interact with other developers, which has been SUPER VALUABLE. I'm able to bounce ideas off of them and they're able to steer me in certain directions that I just wouldn't have figured out myself.

And after talking to a guy about an idea that I had for a project, we connected online and he sent me a project that can get me headed in the right direction with sports analytics.

I actually took a break from DATA CAMP to complete it and I'm excited that I did.

This project helped me see the process of sports analytics and even allowed me to use ML within Big Query, Google's Cloud SQL workbench, for the first time.

The experience doing this introductory course just showed me how achievable my project will be once I find the correct data that I need. I'll also need to get a better understanding of Machine learning and how to build predictions but these platforms seem like they have plenty of projects for me to practice with.

This platform is different from the Google Data Analytics Certificate Program that I completed. This is the cloud skill boost platform, and it seems to be focused more on projects than teaching me how to use software like SQL, R, or Sheets, which is exactly what I need at this point.

I haven't done any other projects on the platform yet but I like that this beginning project was guided. I feel pretty comfortable with how to use SQL but I would have struggled I had to build all the queries myself.

They have a Data Analytics skills tract equipped with badges for each assignment that you complete. I think these badges will pair well with the data analytics certificate that I completed through google. I can take breaks from date camp once a week and knock one of these shorter projects out as well.

But overall this just looks like the perfect platform for me to get an understanding of ML. But if you have any other resources please share them in the comments.

I'm always looking for projects to help build my skills and I'd love to hear from you guys. ✌🏾
