Hello Motherhood moms and parents, here again with another story in which the protagonists are my children, this time it’s my daughter Andrea. As I told you about two months ago, Andrea started keyboard lessons, and in the first few weeks she was assigned two songs to prepare for the end of course recital.

One of the songs was Prince Ali, from the movie Aladdin. Like her, her classmates were assigned songs from movies and TV series, that was the theme of the recital, such as Harry Potter, Coco’s A Little Crazy and Merlina. The teacher told them they could go with a costume that represented the song they were preparing.

The truth is that it seemed strange that a musician had to wear a costume, when sometimes they only dress in black, but since they were children, it had some justification. I had a month to look for a Princess Jasmine costume which was the one Andrea wanted, I searched with my friends, visited stores and called other costume rental stores, but I couldn’t get one in her size, so we decided that she would go with a dress and her favorite boots.

Cómo les comenté hace aproximadamente dos meses, Andrea comenzó clases de teclado, y en las primeras semanas le asignaron dos canciones que debía preparar para el recital de fin de curso.

Una de las canciones fue El Príncipe Alí, de la película Aladdin. Al igual que a ella, a sus compañeros de clases se les asignó temas de películas y serie de televisión, ese era el tema del recital, como Harry Potter, un Poco Loco de Coco y Merlina. El profesor les dijo que podían ir con un vestuario que representara la canción que estaban preparando.

La verdad es que me parecía extraño que un músico tuviera que usar un disfraz, cuando en ocasiones solo se visten de negro, pero como eran niños pues tenía algo de justificación. Tuve un mes para buscar un traje de la princesa Jazmín que era el que Andrea quería, busqué con mis amistades, visitamos tiendas y llame a otras tiendas de alquiler de trajes, pero no pude conseguir uno de su talla, así que decidimos que iría con un vestido y sus botas preferidas.

She was very sure of what she wanted and Andrea is not a girl who can be easily convinced, if she doesn’t like it, no matter what you do, she will buy something she doesn’t agree with. She is very determined.

We went to the mall and at the first stop, in my opinion there were some nice dresses, the one I liked the most was the black one with gold stars, but she thought it was horrible, as you can see she almost didn’t even let the picture be taken. In my case I even liked the price because it was 50% off.

De esta manera empezó la búsqueda del vestido perfecto. Era su primera presentación así que queríamos que se viera muy linda. Al preguntarle qué diseño quería, me dijo que lo quería de color verde agua, pegado hasta la cintura y con falda amplia. Ella estaba muy segura de lo que quería y Andrea no es una niña que se pueda convencer fácilmente, si a ella no le gusta, ni que hagas lo que hagas, va a comprar algo con lo que no esté de acuerdo. Nos fuimos al centro comercial y en la primera parada, a mi parecer habían vestidos lindos, el que más me gustó fue el negro con estrellas doradas, pero a ella le pareció horrible, como puedes ver casi ni se deja tomar la fotografía. En mi caso me gustó hasta el precio porque estaba al 50% de descuento.

We left there to visit other stores, I was a little disappointed because I had liked the black dress with gold stars and I even offered to fix it so that it would fit a little more to her body to the waist, but she was determined that she didn’t like that one. Oh well.

Allí mismo se probó otros vestidos, que aunque ella no quería por qué no les llamaba la atención, yo le insistí diciéndole que tal vez le gustaría uno después de verlo puesto.

La muchacha de la tienda le ofreció un conjunto de pantalón, que aunque no era lo que estábamos buscando, Andrea quiso probarlo, al final si le gustó ir de compras y probarse ropa que no va a comprar 🤣🤣 de todas maneras no le gustaron los volados que tenía la blusa 🤣.

Salimos de ahí para visitar otras tiendas, yo estaba un poco decepcionada porque me había gustado el vestido negro con estrellas doradas y hasta le ofrecí arreglarlo para que le quedara un poco más al cuerpo hasta la cintura, pero ella estaba decidida que ese no le gustaba. Bueno.

Until we arrived at Mininas, an exclusive clothing store for boys and girls. When we asked the saleswoman, she guided us to a rack with several dresses, Andrea as soon as she saw the first one on the rack she grabbed it and didn’t let the girl who was showing us all the models she had in my daughter’s size talk anymore.

In this place she only tried on this dress and her face was totally different than with the others, at that moment I knew it was the one. Here she did show a tremendous smile and even modeled. As for the price, this dress cost twice as much as the black dress that I had liked. But the satisfaction of seeing her happy was enough for us to make the expense.

Seguimos buscando en otras tiendas, creo que entramos en todas las del centro comercial y en ninguna conseguíamos vestidos para niñas. Hasta que llegamos a Mininas, una tienda exclusiva de ropa para niños y niñas. Cuando le preguntamos a la vendedora, ella nos guío hasta un estante con varios vestidos, Andrea apenas vio el primero del estante lo agarró y no dejó hablar más a la muchacha que nos estaba mostrando todos los modelos que tenía en la talla de mi hija.

En este lugar solo se probó este vestido y su cara fue totalmente diferente que con los otros, en ese momento supe que era el elegido. Aquí si mostró una tremenda sonrisa y hasta modeló. En cuanto al precio, este vestido costó dos veces más que el vestido negro que a mí me había gustado. Pero la satisfacción de verla feliz fue suficiente para que hiciéramos el gasto.

The day of the event we noticed that only one girl younger than Andrea was dressed as Princess Peach from Super Mario Bros, the rest of the musicians had a normal costume. So, good thing we didn’t get the Princess Jasmine costume and were able to get and buy a dress with the specifications Andrea was looking for.
