The war against lice that never ends // La guerra contra los piojos que nunca acaba #momlife

Hola, madres y padres que hacen vida en esta comunidad, hoy quiero unirme al blogging challenge #momlife del mes de junio, para este challenge, la comunidad nos da varias opciones de publicaciones que podemos escribir, una de ella y que me gustó mucho es “Hablar de la publicación de otra mamá o papá de la comunidad”. La publicación que escogí para participar en esta iniciativa fue de la amiga @mitag2398, llamada Cuidado del cabello | Una guerra contra los piojo. Todas las personas han tenido piojos en algún momento de su vida. Nada más leyendo la publicación me empezó a picar la cabeza, es inevitable que esto me suceda cada vez que el tema sale a la luz.

Hello, moms and dads who make life in this community, today I want to join the blogging challenge #monlife for the month of June, for this challenge, the community gives us several options of publications that we can write, one of them and that I really liked is “Talk about the publication of another mom or dad of the community”. The post I chose to participate in this initiative was from my friend @mitag2398, called Hair Care | A War on Lice. And if we think about it, everyone has had lice at some point in their lives. Just reading post made my head itch, it’s inevitable that this happens to me every time the subject comes to light.

En su publicación nos cuenta muchas de sus experiencias que complementaré con las mías. La primera es que ella y sus dos hermanas siempre han tenido mucho cabello así que su mamá se esforzaba mucho para que no les cayera piojos, las peinaba con trenzas y les pasaba un peine especial para de esta manera estar muy al pendiente de que no tuvieran piojos.

En mi experiencia personal siempre he tenido la sangre muy dulce para este parásito, así que no importaba lo que mi mamá hiciera, cuando había temporada de piojos (así le dicen cuando hay muchos en las escuelas) yo tenía. Claro, como mi mamá sabía esto, pues ella siempre estaba muy al pendiente para que no se reprodujeran en mi cuero cabelludo. Si les digo la verdad, todavía sigo teniendo muy buena sangre para ellos. Les cuento que hace 11 años, el 1 de febrero del 2011, cuando celebramos el primer año de mi hijo mayor, hicimos una fiesta y sin imaginar lo que me pasaría, estuve toda la celebración con el cabello suelto, a los días empezó a picarme la cabeza y nada que se me quitaba, deje pasar como dos semanas y no aguantaba, pero es que yo no podía creer que tuviera piojos, hasta que finalmente compre un champú especial y un peine saca piojos. Y si! Me saque una cantidad considerable de estos animalitos. Así que no hay edad para que puedas tener piojos.

In her publication she tells us many of her experiences that I will complement with mine. The first one is that she and her two sisters have always had a lot of hair, so her mother made a great effort to prevent them from getting lice, she would comb their hair with braids and would give them a special comb to make sure they didn’t have lice.

In my personal experience I have always had a very sweet blood for this parasite, so no matter what my mom did, when there was lice season (that’s what they call it when there is a lot of lice in schools) I had it. Of course, since my mom knew this, she was always on the lookout so they wouldn’t reproduce on my scalp. To tell you the truth, I still have very good blood for them. I tell you that 11 years ago, on February 1, 2011, when we celebrated my oldest son’s first birthday, we had a party and without imagining what would happen to me, I spent the whole celebration with my hair down, a few days later my head started to itch and nothing would go away, I let about two weeks go by and I couldn’t stand it, but I couldn’t believe I had lice, until I finally bought a special shampoo and a lice comb. And yes, I got rid of a considerable amount of the little critters. So there is no age for you to have lice.

Hay algo que nuestra mamá comentó en su publicación y es que como padres somos responsables de la higiene de nuestros hijos y debemos estar al pendiente de ellos y su alrededor, es verdad que en ocasiones les decimos a nuestros hijos: si sabes que tu compañerito tiene piojos no te le acerques. Pero es inevitable, ellos son niños y en las escuelas a demás de estudiar van a socializar con sus compañeros.

Hace poco y estoy hablando de menos de dos meses, me di cuenta que mi hija se estaba rascando mucho la cabeza, ella a diferencia de como yo era, nunca había tenido piojos. Al revisarla fue mi sorpresa que si tenía, inmediatamente hicimos el tratamiento del champú y peine para las dos, porque si ella tenia seguro yo también. Bueno a ella si le pude matar algunos pero yo no me encontré nada. Que bueno!

There is something that our mom commented in her publication and that is that as parents we are responsible for the hygiene of our children and we must be aware of them and their surroundings, it is true that sometimes we tell our children: if you know that your classmate has lice do not approach him. But it is inevitable, they are children and in schools, besides studying, they are going to socialize with their classmates.

Recently, and I am talking about less than two months ago, I noticed that my daughter was scratching her head a lot, unlike me, she had never had lice. When I checked her I was surprised to find out that she did have lice, we immediately did the shampoo and comb treatment for both of us, because if she had lice I was sure I had them too. Well, I was able to kill some of her lice, but I didn’t find any. What a good thing!

Trabajo como docente en una escuela y todos los días voy con el cabello muy bien recogido con una cola de caballo, para evitar que alguno salte y se quede en mi cabeza. Cuando hay casos de niños con piojos, se les comunica a los representantes para que tomen las acciones, ya que esto perjudica a todos los demás. Recuerdo que hace como 4 años, dos niñas (morochas) tenían una infestación, se citó a la representante pero no se logró que ella tomara las acciones, ya que siempre tenía una excusa para no estar al pendiente de sus hijas, además que tenía 5 hijos más y según ella, los piojos era lo de menos. Al no obtener la respuesta que se esperaba de parte de la mamá, las maestras hicieron la limpieza del cabello de las niñas (en la misma escuela). Esta historia vino a mi mente cuando @mita2398 nos contaba que su tía limpiaba la cabeza de sus hijas y las de sus amigas cuando tenían piojos.

I work as a teacher in a school and every day I wear my hair in a ponytail to prevent any of them from jumping out and staying on my head. When there are cases of children with head lice, the representatives are informed so that they can take action, as this harms everyone else. I remember about 4 years ago, two girls (brunettes) had an infestation, the representative was summoned but she was not able to take action, as she always had an excuse for not being aware of her daughters, plus she had 5 more children and according to her, lice was the least of it. Not getting the response that was expected from the mom, the teachers had the girls’ hair cleaned (at the same school). This story came to mind when @mita2398 told us that her aunt cleaned her daughters’ heads and those of her friends when they had lice.

Como padres, debemos estar muy al pendiente de nuestros hijos, ver las señales. Aunque los piojos en la cabeza no representan una amenaza sería a la salud, si es muy molesta la picazón, tanto que el rascar puede llegar a ocasionar enrojecimiento del cuero cabelludo, ronchas y hasta costras. Esta es una mala experiencia por la que no queremos que nuestros hijos tengan que pasar.

As parents, we must be very attentive to our children and watch for the signs. Although head lice do not represent a serious threat to health, the itching is very annoying, so much so that scratching can cause reddening of the scalp, welts and even scabs. This is a bad experience we don’t want our children to have to go through.
