Iniciativa - Mes del Amor y la Amistad. [ESP-ENG]

No quería que se pasará febrero sin participar en la iniciativa de este mes, dedicando mi publicación al hombre que me ha acompañado durante los últimos 16 años. Así que para celebrar el Día de los Enamorados o San Valentín les contaré un poco más de él y de nuestra relación y me gustaría hacerlo respondiendo las preguntas propuestas por la comunidad.

En varias publicaciones les he contado de nuestra familia y las actividades que nos gustan compartir, así que creo que las preguntas no están relacionadas con nada que haya publicado anteriormente.

I didn’t want February pass without participating in this month’s initiative, dedicating my post to the man who has been with me for the last 16 years. So to celebrate Valentine’s Day I will tell you a little more about him and our relationship and I would like to do it by answering the questions proposed by the community.

In several posts I have told you about our family and the activities we like to share, so I think the questions are not related to anything I have posted before.

Responsable

Está es una de las cualidades más importantes de mi marido. José es una persona que cumple con sus compromisos y obligaciones, nunca lo he escuchado dar una excusa para eximirse de las cosas que tiene que hacer así como tampoco ha faltado a nuestro hogar como proveedor y jefe de familia.

Tal vez en la actualidad eso es un poco anticuado porque las mujeres también son proveedoras e independientes, pero para mí es importante porque aunque no soy una mujer mantenida ya que tengo mi trabajo, me genera seguridad el saber que él es así y tiene como principio la responsabilidad.

Ingenioso

Él es una persona que cuando está en la casa no se queda quieto, tiene talento con las manos para reparar y solventar problemas en el hogar. Estás habilidades le permitieron ganarse el aprecio de mis padres quienes esperan que vaya de vacaciones para que ayude a mi papá a reparar cosas en la casa.

Prudente y protector

José ha trabajado casi toda su vida en el área de seguridad industrial, así que es de las personas que siempre piensan en el riesgo que se corre sino actúas de manera precavida y responsable. Es sumamente protector, entonces siempre está pendiente de todo con el fin minimizar los riesgos de accidentes. Esto tiene mucho que ver con su trabajo pero en la casa también es así.

Responsible

This is one of my husband’s most important qualities. Jose is a person who fulfills his commitments and obligations, I have never heard him give an excuse to exempt himself from the things he has to do as well as he has never missed our home as a provider and head of the family.

Maybe nowadays that is a bit old-fashioned because women are also providers and independent, but for me it is important because although I am not a kept woman since I have my job, it gives me security to know that he is like that and has responsibility as a principle.

Ingenious

He is a person that when he is in the house he doesn’t sit still, he has a talent with his hands to repair and solve problems in the home. These skills allowed him to earn the appreciation of my parents who expect him to go on vacation to help my dad repair things around the house.

Prudent and protective

José has worked almost all his life in the industrial safety area, so he is one of those people who always thinks about the risk you run if you don’t act in a cautious and responsible way. He is extremely protective, so he is always on the lookout to minimize the risk of accidents. This has a lot to do with his work, but he is also like that at home.

¿Como nos conocimos?

Nos conocimos en 2006 cuando trabajábamos en la misma empresa, el trabajaba en el área de seguridad industrial y yo era analista químico. En ocasiones tenia que hacer jornadas de trabajo de más de 12 horas, entonces a la hora de salida 10 u 11 de la noche que llegaba el taxi a buscarme, dejaba los resultados de los análisis en la oficina donde él trabajaba. Una de esas veces me vio.

Un día empecé a recibir mensajes de textos (en aquel momento no existían los teléfonos inteligentes ni el WhatsApp), pero la persona no se identificaba. Me decía que trabajábamos en la misma empresa y que quería conocerme, pero no me decía su nombre. Era obvio que yo sentía desconfianza porque no sabía si era alguien que se quería burlar de mi, entonces le dije que si no me decía quien era no le iba a contestar los mensajes y ahí fue cuando me dijo que era él. Claro, yo sabía quien era pero no le había prestado atención.

Después de eso pasaron más de 3 meses en los que solo hablábamos por mensajes, me escribía cuando yo llegaba a la casa y hablábamos por horas hasta muy tarde, pero nunca me invitó a salir. En agosto hubo una fiesta de empresa y mi compañera del laboratorio y yo no teníamos con quien ir, así que le pedí a José irnos con él en su carro y aceptó, esa fue la primera vez que lo vi después de que empezamos a escribirnos. Ese día pasamos todo la tarde juntos, bailando, hablando y compartiendo, nos dimos cuenta que teníamos cosas en común, pero solo éramos amigos.

En septiembre en un evento agrícola donde la empresa tenía un stand, mi amiga y yo nos volvimos a ir con José, ese fue el segundo día que salimos y no lo hicimos solos, pero este día si me dijo que le gustaba, aunque ya todo el mundo se había dado cuenta por como me miraba.

En octubre me propuso que fuera su novia, la verdad yo pensé que eso ya no se usaba pero él lo pidió y yo acepte, ya van 16 años con 4 meses y dos hijos incluidos.

How did we meet?

We met in 2006 when we worked in the same company, he worked in the industrial safety area and I was a chemical analyst. Sometimes I had to work more than 12 hours a day, so at 10 or 11 o’clock at night when the cab came to pick me up, I would leave the analysis results in the office where he worked. One of those times he saw me.

One day I started receiving text messages (at that time there were no smartphones or WhatsApp), but the person did not identify himself. He would tell me that we worked at the same company and that he wanted to meet me, but he wouldn’t tell me his name. It was obvious that I felt distrustful because I did not know if it was someone who wanted to make fun of me, so I told him that if he did not tell me who he was I would not answer his messages and that was when he told me it was him. Of course I knew who he was, but I hadn’t paid attention to him.

After that more than 3 months went by in which we only talked by messages, he wrote me when he got home and we talked for hours until very late, but he never asked me out. In August there was a company party and my lab partner and I had no one to go with, so I asked Jose to go with him in his car and he accepted, that was the first time I saw him after we started texting each other. That day we spent the whole afternoon together, dancing, talking and sharing, we realized we had things in common, but we were just friends.

In September at an agricultural event where the company had a booth, my friend and I went out again with Jose, that was the second day we went out and we didn’t do it alone, but that day he did tell me that he liked me, although everyone had already noticed by the way he looked at me.

In October he proposed me to be his girlfriend, the truth is that I thought that this was no longer used but he asked me and I accepted, it has been 16 years with 4 months and two children included.

¿Cuáles fueron mis primeras impresiones al verlo por primera vez?

Antes de que me enviara los mensajes de texto, nunca le había prestado atención, creo haberlo visto unas dos veces pero ni pendiente. Después de los mensajes de textos pasaron 3 meses antes de que pudiera verlo, entonces cuando salimos por primera vez fue una sensación extraña, lo conozco o no lo conozco.

El me pareció una persona muy seria y también inteligente con la que podía hablar por horas, aparte de eso también era un buen bailarín y es algo que siempre me ha gustado de un hombre.

What were my first impressions when I saw it for the first time?

Before he sent me the text messages, I had never paid attention to him, I think I had seen him about twice but not even pending. After the text messages it was 3 months before I got to see him, then when we went out for the first time it was a strange feeling, do I know him or don’t I know him.

He struck me as a very serious and also intelligent person that I could talk to for hours, besides that he was also a good dancer and that is something I have always liked in a man.

Anécdota que recuerdo de nosotros.

Esto nunca se me va a olvidar. Después que pasamos todo ese tiempo en comunicación por mensajes, trabajando en la misma empresa pero sin vernos, el día que por fin salimos, no lo hacemos solos sino con mi amiga, pero tenía que recogerla a ella primero y luego me iban a buscar porque yo tenía clases ese día.

Cuando subo al carro veo una rosa azul, pues él le había regalado una rosa a mi amiga, eso fue algo que me confundió mucho. Con el tiempo me explica que ella era muy seria y quería romper el hielo con la rosa y que yo sabía que yo le gustaba y por eso llevábamos tanto tiempo hablando, a demás que ese día no me había dejado sola ni un momento.

Anecdote I remember about us.

This I will never forget. After being all that time in communication by messages, working in the same company but without seeing each other, the day we finally go out, we don’t do it alone but with my friend, but he had to pick her up first and then they were going to pick me up because I had classes that day.

When I get in the car I see a blue rose, because the man had given a rose to my friend, that was something that confused me a lot. In the end he explained to me that my friend was very serious and wanted to break the ice with the rose, that I knew he liked me and that’s why we had been talking for so long, plus that day he hadn’t left me alone for a moment.

¿Qué regalos le gusta recibir a él y qué regalos a mí?

Nosotros no somos de hacernos regalos para San Valentín, este año por ejemplo nuestra compañía y amor fueron suficientes.

Cuando celebramos nos gusta salir a comer rico en un lugar bonito, pasar un momento agradable para mí es más importante que cualquier regalo.

What gifts does he like to receive and what gifts do you like to receive?

We are not really into Valentine's Day gifts, this year for example our company and love were enough.

When we celebrate it we like to go out to eat somewhere nice, having a nice time for us is more important than any gift.

¿Cuan importante es para mí haberlo conocido?

José ha sido mi amigo y compañero por 16 años, es el padre de mis hijos, es la mejor decisión que pude haber tomado, es el complemento que mi vida necesitaba, José me cambio la vida en 360° pero todo ha sido para mejor.

Todas las parejas son diferentes, así como lo son todas las personas. En la vida a veces encontramos esa persona que es tan diferente a ti pero que te ayuda a crecer y te enseña cosas que no eran parte de tu personalidad. Las parejas son así, un complemento de las dos personas, esas diferencias es lo que hacen que una relación evolucione y es lo que ha hecho que nos encontremos en nuestros mejores años juntos.

How important it is for me to have met him?

José has been my friend and partner for 16 years, he is the father of my children, he is the best decision I could have made, he is the complement that my life needed, Jose changed my life in 360° but everything has been for the better.

All couples are different, as are all people. In life sometimes we find that person who is so different from you but who helps you grow and teaches you things that were not part of your personality. Couples are like that, a complement of the two people, those differences is what makes a relationship evolve and is what has made us find ourselves in our best years together.

¿Qué admiro de esa persona?

Yo admiro que José tenga siempre un plan, que piense en todo. Antes de hacer alguna cosa, él ya lo ha investigado y analizado, eso hace que este muy seguro de sus pasos.
Es muy diferente a mí, que soy una persona que me guío por instintos o que en ocasiones soy tan insegura que me cuesta decidir por un par de zapatos.

What do I admire about that person?

I admire that José always has a plan, that he thinks of everything. Before he does something, he has already researched and analyzed it, that makes him very sure of his steps.

It is very different from me, I am a person who is guided by instincts or sometimes I am so insecure that I find it difficult to decide on a pair of shoes.
