¡Hola, gente de internet! Espero que estén bien. Hoy quiero hablarles de un libro perteneciente a una saga que me ha sorprendido, Se trata de nada más y nada menos que de Maze Runer. Corramos al otro lado del Área para charlar sobre su primer libro.
Hello, internet people! I hope you are well. Today I want to talk to you about a book belonging to a saga that has surprised me, It's nothing more and nothing less than Maze Runer. Let's run to the other side of the Area to chat about its first book.
Honestamente recuerdo que cuando las películas de Maze Runner fueron saliendo, no les di importancia, pues su temática futurista no era netamente de mi agrado, sin embargo, decidí darle una oportunidad a los libros, así que, los adquirí todos y me puse a leer.
I honestly remember that when the Maze Runner movies were coming out, I didn't give them any importance, because their futuristic theme was not really to my liking, however, I decided to give the books a chance, so I bought them all and started reading them.
Acabo de terminar el primer libro y enseguida tomé el segundo. Es por eso que quise traerles esta review, ya que todo está más fresco en mi cabeza, entonces comencemos con ella.
I just finished the first book and immediately I started with the second one. That's why I wanted to bring you this review since everything is fresher in my head, so let's start with it.
Maze Runner es una trilogía de James Dashner, quien es de origen estadounidense. Su trilogía ha sido traducida a varios idiomas y cada libro cuenta con una versión fílmica.
Maze Runner is a trilogy by James Dashner, who is of American origin. His trilogy has been translated into several languages and each book has a film version.
La manera de narrar de James es simple, sin embargo su historia, la forma en que la aborda, el desarrollo de personajes y eventos dentro de la trama y además su facilidad para manejar el suspenso, hacen de su primer libro una joya literaria y además, incrementa las expectativas del lector acerca de sus siguientes libros.
James' way of narrating is simple, but his story, the way he approaches it, the development of characters and events within the plot, and also his facility for handling suspense, make his first book a literary gem and also increase the reader's expectations about his next books.
Es bastante difícil mantener al lector pegado a tu libro, dado a que entre capítulos y escenas que suelen ser más explicativas para el desarrollo acertado y la evolución de la historia, el lector puede sentirse un poco aburrido (momento en que los lectores asiduos aprovechamos para dejar la lectura y ocuparnos de nuestros otros asuntos) pero James, al saber manejar el suspenso de una forma tan natural, logra que sea muy difícil no seguir leyendo, puesto a que queremos respuestas, al igual que Thomas (el protagonista)
It's quite difficult to keep the reader attached to your book, since between chapters and scenes that are usually more explanatory for the successful development and evolution of the story, the reader may feel a little bored (moment in which regular readers take the opportunity to stop reading and take care of our other business) but James, knowing how to handle the suspense in such a natural way, makes it very difficult not to keep reading, since we want answers, just like Thomas (the protagonist).
Maze Runner nos narra la historia de Thomas, un chico que despierta en un ascensor de metal entre la oscuridad, completamente desmemoriado, a no ser porque solo puede recordar sensaciones y su nombre. Cuando el ascensor se detiene, Thomas se da cuenta de que ha llegado a una zona donde se encuentran otros chicos y que el lugar en concreto se llama «El Área».
Maze Runner tells the story of Thomas, a boy who wakes up in a metal elevator in the dark, completely forgetful, except for the fact that he can only remember sensations and his name. When the elevator stops, Thomas realizes that he is in an place where there are other boys and that this particular place is called "The Area".
Poco a poco, Thomas aprende como es la vida en aquél lugar, cada grupo de chicos tiene un trabajo de suma importancia para que todo marche bien y es como él llega a la conclusión de que quiere ser «Corredor» (Las personas más importantes de todas las que están allí, ya que son las encargadas de entrar al laberinto que está fuera del área, para intentar descubrir la salida)
Step by step, Thomas learns how life is in that place, each group of boys has a job of utmost importance for everything to go well and that is how he comes to the conclusion that he wants to be a "Runner" (the most important people of all those who are there, as they are responsible for entering the maze that is outside the area, to try to discover the exit).
El desarrollo de personajes es brutal, podemos apreciar como los problemas planteados en la hórrida prueba, lleva a los habitantes de El Área al límite y como todos (o casi todos) trabajan en equipo para poder solventar la situación. Podemos notar como el liderazgo de algunos crece y como las buenas ideas de todos aportan siempre algo bueno para la solución de los conflictos.
The character development is awesome, we can see how the problems posed in the horrid ordeal, takes the inhabitants of The Area to the limit and how everyone (or almost everyone) works as a team to solve the situation. We can notice how the leadership of some of them grows and how the good ideas of all of them always contribute something good to the solution of the conflicts.
Mi personaje preferido es Minho, es un líder innato ya que tiene la inteligencia y el carácter que se requiere para ello, pero también escucha a sus compañeros y toma en cuenta sus opiniones, además de que también los toma en cuenta para las decisiones. Es fuerte, decidido, valiente, pero también inteligente y precavido, características clave para ser un buen líder.
My favorite character is Minho, he is an innate leader as he has the intelligence and character required for it, but he also listens to his teammates and takes into account their opinions, besides he also takes them into account for decisions, he is strong, determined, brave, but also intelligent and cautious, key characteristics to be a good leader.
Thomas por otra parte, es todo nobleza y valentía, mi escena preferida es en la que solo, decide poner a salvo a Alby y posteriormente, Minho y él logran arrojar a los Penitentes por el acantilado.
Thomas on the other hand, is all nobility and bravery, my favorite scene is where he decides to get Alby to safety by his own, and later, Minho and he manage to throw the Penitents off the cliff.
Lo único que puedo poner como punto negativo hacia el libro (y es meramente mi opinión) es la devoción enfermiza que siente Thomas por Teresa. La dependencia emocional no es algo bueno ni algo que se deba romantizar. La dependencia emocional es un problema real que aqueja a muchas personas y que se debe tratar como tal, darle un sentido romántico a esa conexión que hay entre ambos personajes me parece un error.
The only thing I can put as a negative point towards the book (and it's merely my opinion) is the unhealthy devotion Thomas feels for Teresa. Emotional dependency is not a good thing or something to romanticize. Emotional dependency is a real problem that afflicts many people and should be treated as such, giving a romantic sense to the connection between the two characters seems to me to be a mistake..
Es molesto y aburrido cada vez que Thomas se pone a cavilar sobre Teresa, el lector quiere realmente saber que pasa en ese lugar y no si la chica es guapa o no, o si se aman o no. Para colmo, teresa está 24/7 dentro de los pensamientos de nuestro protagonista, y al estar toda la historia narrada desde su punto de vista, el hecho se vuelve recurrente.
It's annoying and boring every time Thomas starts thinking about Teresa, the reader really wants to know what happens in that place and not if the girl is pretty or not, or if they love each other or not. To make matters worse, Teresa is 24/7 inside our protagonist's thoughts, and since the whole story is narrated from his point of view, the fact becomes recurrent.
Quitando lo que acabo de mencionar, el libro en verdad es muy, muy bueno. Tiene una historia en extremo creativa, James, el escritor, se inventó un gobierno, un sistema, una comunidad científica, unas pruebas, unas criaturas. y hasta una jerga.. e hizo que todo encajara y funcionara como los engranajes y piezas de un buen reloj.
Aside from what I just mentioned, the book is really, really good. It has an extremely creative story, James, the writer, invented a government, a system, a scientific community, tests, creatures, and even a slang... and made it all fit together and work like the gears and parts of a good watch.
Recién empecé con la lectura de Maze Runner, Prueba de Fuego (es decir, el segundo libro de la trilogía) y ya estoy al capítulo 19. No miento al decir que James Dashner sabe bien como mantener al lector interesado. Estaré pronto haciendo la Review de la película del primer libro, pues la vi ayer, y apenas termine el segundo libro, haré la crítica también.
I just started reading Maze Runner, "The Scorch Trials" (i.e. the second book of the trilogy) and I'm already at chapter 19. I'm not lying when I say that James Dashner knows how to keep the reader interested. I will be reviewing the movie of the first book soon, as I saw it yesterday, and as soon as I finish the second book, I will review it as well.

Vi las tres películas y en particular me gustaron, me gustan ese tipo de historias como divergente y los juegos del hambre aunque esta última no es una trilogía porque la última película está dividida en 2.
Te confieso que no he leído ningún libro. Pero disfruto de las películas.
Yo siempre me voy a las historias originales (los libros) dado a que suelen ser mucho mejores que sus partes filmicas. En el caso de Maze Runner, Correr o Morir fue la primera película que filmó su director y eso se notó bastante, sin embargo es algo que hablaré en otro post.
El director le cambió muchas cosas a la película y no todo fue para mejorar el producto final. Creo que las únicas películas que me gustaron fueron las de Harry Potter (aunque sigo prefiriendo más los libros) y es porque aunque tiene algunos cambios, no son la gran cosa o de todos modos los llevaron bien. Gracias por leer y comentar jeje
