Destroyer: The U-Boat Hunter

This March Humble Bundle drop is one of really unexpected goodness! There are a couple of really recent games in there, that would otherwise be selling for way above what the subscription would cost... even a year's subscription! So, I'm going to dive straight into this one... I'm pretty amazed by the lineup!

Headlining the bundle is Warhammer Realm's of Ruin... I love the Warhammer universe (both Fantasy and 40K), and this real time strategy game only just came out at the the end of 2023! It had pretty mixed reviews, and I wasn't going to ever buy it direct... but having drop as part of the bundle is pretty awesome! And it is the Ultimate Edition as well! Keeping for sure!

Nioh is a pretty well received third person action/RPG game set in medieval Japan. I've always meant to play the original, and now that the sequel is dropping on this Humble Bundle, I feel like I had better get moving on that one... so, keeping this one... and shunting the original up the backlog list! Plus, this is also another complete edition as well!

Saints Row is the quirky over the top cousin to the more poe-faced GTA series. I've had a bit of a dabble in one of the previous iterations, before it turned a bit janky on my hardware. However, I'm pretty keen to revisit this stupidly fun version... and again, this is a 2023 release! Pffff, this is too good!

Citizen Sleeper is a Cyberpunk tabletop adaptation... this has been on my wishlist for ages, and I almost bought it recently in a huge Steam sale. I really really have to stop doing that... Anyway, this is roleplaying narrative at its finest, and there is lots of reading and dice rolling in there. It does seem to be the perfect fit for a travel game on the Deck... I'm not sure if I'll install on my gaming laptop, it does seem like a bit of overkill!

Holy moly, another game on my wishlist in the form of Black Skylands! An open world game where you are in charge of an airship, along with on-foot combat sections... this is pretty damn awesome! Again, another game where I almost purchased it in a Steam Sale... I'm so glad that I held off, as this bundle is just dropping goodness after goodness into my library!

Soulstice is an interesting fighting hack and slasher... it certainly looks beautiful, I'm definitely keeping this one for my collection. I'm not a real hack/slash gamer, but it just looks that good... and it is only from the end of 2022 as well! There is something definitely intriguing about good looking games as much as the core mechanic stuff!

Afterimage is a 2D sidescroller... it does look pretty decent, but these games aren't really my thing, and I have quite a few of these types of games. I'm a bit up in the air about this... I might keep it, but I really doubt that I will play it, so it is probably better to just send this to the Bengy Key Store. Even though it should be a good fit for the Deck again...

I remember that I used to play a game that was about being a U-boot captain in World War 2 when I was a kid. I can't remember what it was, but it was aiming to be a decent simulation for the time given the hardware... this Destroyer: U-Boat Hunter seems to be doing the same thing, but on the opposing front... and with hardware that is a about 30 years into the future! I'm pretty curious about this one!

So, so many hits for me on this bundle... and definitely no hard passes. Even the ones that don't directly appeal to me seem to be pretty decent for the right sort of gamer!
