More Comics for Me!

More Comics for Me!.jpg

When I'm travelling, I usually get a food allowance... and quite often, the allowance is definitely a good deal more than I can possibly eat on a regular day... I'm a small eater, and when I'm travelling, I'm eating even less! So, that means that I have a bit of extra cash in my pocket to buy little treats for myself (or sometimes, the kids...).

When I'm in Sydney, I will always drop by the King's Comics in the CBD... its usually pretty close to the hotel and the concert hall, so there is no real excuse to avoid it! Not that I try to...

Anyway, on my last visit to the comic book store, I picked up these four volumes. As usual, I tend to pick up collected volumes so that I don't have lots of individual issues. I really hate having individual ones...

Anyway, these were the ones that had caught my eye...

The Tick was a personal purchase, I loved the cartoons when I was a kid... and so I thought it was high time to get back to the original source material... and likewise, I had recently seen the Mech Cadets being recommended to me on Netflix and I thought it would be nice to also pick up the original comic book series that the show was based upon. Hard to shake the feeling that I should read the book before watching the "movie" that had been drilled into from a young age (and that we still drill into our own kids!).

The Tick, I've been reading that one during the breaks in the rehearsals... its pretty decent, but not quite on the level of the cartoons. I have a feeling that despite the "complete" works title, there seems to be references that I'm missing... and I wonder if there was a previous collection that is out there?

The Amelia Cole Omnibus and the Monstress Volume were interesting ones that I just picked up on an impulse. I look out for things that my girls might like in the future... at the moment, these might just be a little bit too mature for them, but who knows... in a couple of years they might enjoy them... we are also always on the lookout for spare presents for birthdays, Sinterklaas, and Christmas!

But in the meantime, I might read them instead! Or is that bad form....
