It has been alternating between storms and really hot weather since the start of the year... which means that the plants that survive the searing heat are doing really well... and the ones that suffered in the heat are really really suffering. I've already posted a bit about our little bush that is struggling... and hopefully, it will recover... but it might take a bit of time, as I think that the central stem is now probably dead, but all the bits around are doing okay... so, it is doing a bush equivalent of a monkish balding top...

But our veggies have fared pretty well, and it was only the lettuce that shriveled up and died. The zucchinis are doing quite nicely, with lots of little edible bits pushing out!

... and we have a little strawberry plant in the front, in a pot that is doing quite well as it is shaded a bit by the patio. The ones in the open sun are looking decidedly worse due to the scorching Sun... and it might be time to make the call to dig those out... but for the moment, this little one at the front is giving us very nice looking fruits!

And so, at the moment, we are able to pick out a little handful of things to flesh out our dinners in the evenings... yesterday, a couple of weirdly fat zucchinis, and a handful of cherry tomatoes which all went straight into a pasta sauce.

The trees have also been a bit battered by the heat and strong winds... Thankfully, nothing huge has come down, but we do have a bit of a regular smaller branch drop form the gumtrees.

... and when the Sun is less fierce, I will have to turn my attention back to the grass... weeding it a bit, and starting prepare the next batch of ground for a new rollout of the San Ana cooch. I'm surprised how well the grass coped with the heat! I was expecting it to be completely browned everywhere!
