Dispatch Season 1 (Completed: Thoughts): NO SPOILERS!

Buying games at launch is a really rare event for me... I've often regretted it, as the games go on my list of games to play... and then drop on Humble Bundle before I've actually played it!
However, the thought of missing out on the launch of the episodic story game, Dispatch, was just too much for me to hold out on. I held firm as the game launched, and the episodes started dripping out... but as soon as the complete Season 1 was out and released, I knew that I couldn't dodge any more season spoilers any more.. and I jumped in a bought the game!
So, I'm a huge fan of the Telltale games... I've almost played all of them, starting with The Walking Dead... just working my way through the Game of Thrones, and the I need to make a start on The Expanse. I love these narrative first games, and although they have different levels of seriousness and comedic balance, they are all incredibly well done and in most of them... quite emotionally charged and touching... everything that you are looking for in a mature gaming experience!
... although Dispatch ISN'T by Telltale... Ad Hoc did have some serious Telltale vibes going on... and the fact that they were able to partner with Critical Role for the story... well, I knew that it was just going to be a good one, a promise of a great story pared with just the right amount of nerdiness!
I'm not going to describe the story setup... just watch the trailer below...
... and post season 1 completion. Wow, what a ride... I played one episode a night, and I loved the art style and the story... and yes, I was touched! This was definitely a worthy successor to Telltale!
On a technical level, the was a bit of an annoying glitch in the final section that meant that I had to restart the dispatching level a few times... which also brought about the annoyance of unskippable cutscenes! But apart from that, it ran more than easily enough on my gaming laptop... even when it was powered down to run on battery.
The voice acting and character development was awesome, and I really can't wait for Season 2... which given the runaway success of Season 1 and some unresolved storylines... well, they would be foolish not to!
So, if you are sitting on the fence of getting Dispatch.. get it. If you love story driven games, and like the narrative setup... you are most likely going to enjoy this! Well crafted and engaging games for mature adults! LOVE IT!

I never even heard of Dispatch until a few days ago. I've been eyeballing it but don't have the slightest clue what it is about.
It's a narrative game with mini games and choice trees, very much like telltale games if you played any of those. Watch the trailer for plot set up.
I tend to wait for games to be out for a while. When the get a huge discount or are finally free, that's when I usually find my way to them. I can't remember the last time I bought a new game. I almost came close with CIV VI or whatever it was that just released a bit ago.
Yeah, I try to discipline myself to do that... But sometimes, the urge is too strong!
