[ENG/ITA] Aqueducts Park: a dip in ancient Rome / Parco degli Acquedotti: un tuffo nell'antica Roma

Hi Hivers,
tonight I want to share with you the walk I took yesterday with my wife and daughter in a very characteristic park in Rome.

If you are on a trip to Rome and want to see some ancient ruins surrounded by greenery for free, then the Parco degli Acquedotti, two steps from Via Tuscolana is the one for you.
Going along via Tuscolana towards outside Rome from the center, you will reach the Subagusta district just before the Cinecittà film studios. Easily accessible also by metro.
From via Tuscolana go along the entire Circonvallazione Tuscolana and you will arrive at the entrance to the Parco degli Acquedotti in via Lemonia.

The park once extended up to the Castelli Romani.

Once inside, passing under the pines, you will find an open-air gym, games for children and a dirt clearing where kids usually play football

Continuing a few more meters, with your back to the main road, you will find some ladders that will take you through a pipe of a disused but relatively new aqueduct.
Beyond these huge pipes, after a few tens of meters, you will find yourself at the edge of a pond full of turtles, tadpoles and some carp.

Here you can also sit in the shade of some benches.

Behind the lake there is an old farmhouse called Casale Roma Vecchia, built around the 13th century.

After a short walk across a small bridge you will reach the first part of the ancient aqueduct

Crossing it you will reach a golf course and a sports center with a few 5-a-side football pitches and tennis courts.
Continuing you will reach the Via Appia and you will have reached the end of the park.

Going back and turning right at the old farmhouse, you will skirt a small stream and in the distance you will continue to see the remains of the ancient Roman aqueduct

Continuing in the direction of central Rome, you will encounter an old building, probably used as a warehouse for crops

Looking beyond this building, beyond other ruins of the aqueducts you will see a church.

For us yesterday the tour ended here, but we were practically halfway there yet.

Always continuing towards the center of Rome, you can continue your journey in the Parco degli Acquedotti in Rome and get to Tor Fiscale.

Inside the park it is possible to let your children take a ride on ponies, or you can rent bicycles together with a guide who will take you on a guided tour of the whole area.

Salve Hivers,
