I've been watching anime for the best part of my life. Most of my anime friends also followed manga and they were always very annoying because they always knew what would happen before it did.

Anyway, last year I got hooked on an anime titled Record of Ragnarok that I found on Netflix. It had only one season released and it ended on a cliff hanger.

I've been patiently waiting for the release of the second season. I constantly check Reddit and anywhere else to get information about this anime.

There has been no official release date set for season 2. However, it has been confirmed that the second season is in production.

The plot

Record of Ragnarok is a mythical anime series that is centered around the gods' decision to erase humanity from existence. However, before the decision was made, a Valkyrie stepped up and challenged the gods to Ragnarok.

Ragnarok is a death battle contest between gods and men. In this universe, Ragnarok can be summoned whenever the gods decide to destroy humanity.

The issue is that Ragnarok was more of a gag between the gods than anything else. This is because humans are not capable of actually harming gods with our weapons.

Fortunately for humanity, the Valkyries were on their side. Thanks to a special procedure called Vollundr, human weapons became capable of hurting gods.

The fun thing about the anime series was the portrayal of the various characters. In the first season of the anime, there were three battles that involved Thor, Zeus and Poseidon on the Gods side.

While for humanity, there was Lu Bu, Adam, and Kojiro Sasaki. How it works is that the souls of exceptional humans cut across different periods of human existence are brought together.

The manga series went further by revealing four more battles but only three had been settled before it ended at chapter 62.

Both camps had a total of 13 fighters and the first to get to 7 points wins the day. To score a point, you kill your opponent and your opponent's soul is basically dissolved and erased from existence.

Manga was exhilarating

I honestly didn't think I could get hooked to a manga series the way I did with this one. The website I read it was riddled with ads but that did nothing to deter me from enjoying the spectacle.

I read the manga keenly in my phone exclusively, zooming in and out of various pages. It was absolutely awesome.

The art work was so damn awesome. Perhaps because I had seen some of the live action scenes in the anime, I could pretty much hear the voice of the characters in the anime.

This manga series that is a continuation of the anime series is rife with fun lores and backstories for each character. I love the way they build up each character's origins and connects it with their fighting ability.

The production of the manga was really exquisite because it thrusts you into the life of each character. A lot of the origin stories are based on real life or myth but for dramatization purposes, there's a sprinkle of hyperbole for effect.

Overall, I highly reccomend Record of Ragnarok Manga for anybody that enjoys anime. The anime is fun and all but you'll honestly not miss anything if you just read all the chapters of the manga instead.

I am a lover of both sides, however I enjoy manga more than anime. I have noticed that in the anime adaptation they usually change slightly certain parts but they are still very similar to the original (manga).

This series I only saw the fight between adam and zeus, really crazy haha.
