Tickle the Pickle
https://peakd.com/gardening/@bearbear613/take-control-of-your-veggies April 6th 2022 until now!
So the past month I have being doing my hydroponic experiment and documenting it on Hive. Well the females have come! Woke warriors should be happy to know Cucumber plants can produce female and male flowers. I had to do some youtube education to see where are the cucumbers?!
Well apparently the male flowers come out first and about 10 days later the female flowers come out to play. The male and female are easy to identify as the female have a little baby cucumber waiting to be pollinated.
Because this is hydroponics there's upside and downside. The upside? No bugs! The downside is I have to supply the light and pollinate those females by hand. That's right I have to grind the male flowers into the female as there are no insects to carry the pollination.
Hopefully the next post will show how great the cucumbers came out.
So April 1st to May 27th here's the result.
Tickle the Pickle is looking fresh. With hydroponic you can see the difference, it's much cleaner !
sucks a lot of water those cucumbers!
You have been busy my friend. Interesting project. Thanks for sharing.
It's the first time that I know cucumbers can produce both male and female flowers. Its shape has deceived me a lot. Hydroponics requires a lot of focus because the pollination process is done manually.
It is important for flowers to receive sunlight in their growth stages. Cucumbers have many benefits. It is also important to avoid pesticides, as they are a deadly poison for me.
Dear @bearbear613, we need your help!
The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago and only needs a few more HP to get funded again.
May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work this year?
You can do it on Peakd, ecency, Hive.blog or using HiveSigner.

Your support would be really helpful and you could make a difference.
Thank you!
