Visiting art exhibitions is one of the activities I enjoy for the week end. Caracas has many public and private museums and galleries for free. You do not have to pay an entrance fee and you can see excellent exhibitions. Last Sunday I went to the National Art Gallery of Venezuela, the most important public art gallery of my country. I went with my friend Maria Luisa. Both like so much art. In the area of the city where my friend María Luisa lives, Bellas Artes, there are several museums: National Art Gallery, Museum of Fine Arts, Contemporary Art Museum, Science Museum, Children's Museum and the most important theater of Caracas, Teresa Carreño Theater.

After a hard week of work, seeing art is a good way to relax. Actually, the National Art Gallery has several new exhibitions you can see. I’ll write about exhibitions I saw and I’ll share some photos I took with my cell phone camera.

Alexis de la Sierra

Alexis de la Sierra is a venezuelan artist, he is goldsmith, sculptor and digital artist. He has been working since 55 years ago, since he was a very young man he began his work of art. The National Art Gallery exhibits a retrospective of his work “Between spirituality and surrealism”. His work expresses a mystical quest. 87 works make up the exhibition, some pieces of jewelry, chandeliers, some sculptures and several works of digital art printed on canvas. I really liked his digital work, full of bright colors, geometrical figures, force, I will share with you some photos I took with my cell phone camera. I hope you will like. Alexis de la Sierra exhibición will remain in the National Art Gallery seven moths.

The National Art Gallery is also exhibiting “One All Contemporary Venezuelan Artists”. 91 Venezuelan Contemporary women artists are showing their works. It'ś wonderful, you know, because for centuries women’s art works were not visible. Women did not receive a good rating for their works. Many years have passed before women have received acknowledgement. In the National Art Gallery exhibition you can see pictures, sculptures, pottery, photography, video, Art installations.

It’s a conceptual exhibition, reflections about art, but also reflections about women in art, female representation in art. How women want to represent themselves in their works. Every woman artist has her own way to work. So, you can see folk art but also a video created by artificial intelligence.

Some of the works received a prize, because the National Art Gallery and Development Bank of Latin America called for a competition among the artists selected to participate in the exhibition.

This exhibition will remain open until december. If you live in Caracas I invite you to visit it. My friend Maria Luisa and I enjoyed visiting the exhibition. Well, I wanted to show you several works I liked. I hope you liked.

What an amazing collection of artworks. I go to the art gallery here in South Australia from time to time and there's some nice works there, but I find it rather repetitive at times. They have visiting exhibitions though and they can be good.

Thanks for putting this post together and for sharing it in my community.
