A Glimpse Into My Life in a Monochromatic Way - Okay.. Maybe Just The Kitchen :-P

They Say You Can Learn A Lot ..

About a person by seeing a few pictures of what's lying around his kitchen. Okay, maybe they don't say that, but does that mean that there's no truth in that statement? I'll let you be the judge. Of course, Pepper (as seen above) is always lying around the kitchen. Simple math for him.. Kitchen + Me = FOOD.Before I left the house this morning, I shot several pictures from just around my kitchen. A dozen or so pictures of random items, to give you a glimpse into my life. It seemed like a good idea, but now that I am writing this, maybe not so much. I can't possibly include every aspect or item in the kitchen.. this post would be way too long and your interest gone in about 2 minutes.

So Here We Go! ..

First up we have one single banana.

It seems to be an unspoken rule that my wife and I have to leave the last banana in a bunch, on the counter until it looks like a chocolate covered banana. I don't like the taste of over ripe bananas but they are good if you mash them up in ice cream or use for banana bread.. You can guess that neither one of those things happened this week.

Next we have some egg shells of breakfasts past. I let them dry out and then pile them into zip-lock bags and crush them into small pieces. I want to spread them on my garden, but instead I have a 15 lb bag of them sitting in my pantry. Anyone want any? Any other uses for them? Eventually I will toss them out in the garden.. should do it now!

IMG_E5324.JPG

Here's the look out my kitchen window. Yeah.. I have a lot of yard to mow come summer. As long as I keep up with it, it's not too bad. They dogs like it more than we do. They love running all the way to the back of the yard to smell around and to do their business. We all get our exercise walking around out there.

IMG_E4771.JPG

Speaking of dogs.. Molly isn't much of a kitchen dog, unless there is food involved. Her and Pepper eat all their meals in the kitchen, and hang out when I am cooking to see what accidentally or purposefully falls onto the floor. Pepper likes to hang out in the kitchen when we are not around. He often finds himself sleeping on the chairs. I don't know what he finds so comfortable about them, but he does enjoy them.

IMG_E3974.JPG

To go with the two dogs, we have the dog treats. They have really grown attached to the animal cracker variety. We buy them in bulk at the local big bulk store for around $6 USD per large container. They also go nuts for really any type of soft baked cookies from Three Dog Bakery. The cookies are like catnip for Pepper. Sometimes he goes overboard with the whining.

IMG_E5321.JPG

Lets not leave out the treats for us! Dogs can't have chocolate, but we sure can :-D We are still working on a decent sized container of Christmas M&M's. They are colored red and green, but you wouldn't know that by looking at the black and white picture of them below. They look much more appetizing in color for sure.. but this wouldn't be a monochromatic post if they were in color. Plus I don't want you getting hungry on me before you finish reading this post!

IMG_E5314.JPG

I don't want you getting thirsty on me either, but I'll still show you one of my favorite Cabernet Sauvignon's. So smooth!! $8.99 for a small bottle of it. Try it if you see it at your local retailer and let me know what you think. Curious to know if I have bad taste. hehe.

IMG_7316.JPG

What goes with wine? No NOT cheese.. I knew you were going to say that! Flowers :-) that's what! I recently brought home some beautiful orange yellow roses for my wife. I like to surprise her every so often with a few fresh flowers. It's sort of a win win, because she loves getting them and I love having them sitting in the middle of the island. They just make the room feel warmer. again.. not the best choice to choose shooting in black and white.. flowers are prettier in color (I'm such a fool)

Turning around toward the sink, is something a little less glorious and pretty. Its a small bowel that I made at our friends pottery factory. We were up visiting them and we decided to kill some time and make our own bowls. This one came out decent and is not that bad to look at. I keep it near the sink to store something very cool in. You'll just have to read down a bit more to find out hehe...

IMG_E5319.JPG

Within this grey stoneware bowl, speckled with cobalt blue dots, we hide our little stainless steal scrubbing buddy. Perfect little storage place and it looks a lot prettier in there than on the counter.

IMG_E5318.JPG

Last but not least, I keep a second bowl (yes you heard me correctly) a second bowl for bottle caps, can tabs and corks. Why you ask?? I started collecting them because my nieces and nephews were collecting them for school, but the have since stopped. I still go on collecting them. I want to make something with them. I always see cool resin table tops and such with the corks or beer caps embedded. That's the goal. We'll see if it comes to fruition.

That's All The Time and Photo's ..

I have for now. I would have made it a bit more in depth, but I don't want to bore you. Plus I want to keep you wondering a little.. who is this goof ball? I have no excuses.

About Me ~ The Artist

My art work incorporates a wide variety of subject matter, including landscape, seascape, cityscape, and still life images. My works are the product of a continuing process of exploration through which I seek to portray personal and visionary interpretations of my surroundings. My paintings are impressions of places and events from everyday life, an interpretation of my imagination, and personal responses to what I see and feel on a daily basis. More recently I have invested generous amounts of time into my landscape painting. I am surrounded by natural and man made beauty, which inherently presents itself in the tri-state area, and almost demands that I paint it.

Not everything is art. Art is not everything, but it comes close. Art is everywhere and all the time. Art makes you experience the beauty of the world, the people in it, and the places we call home. Art itself is so influential that it can tell stories, show feelings, and express passion or fury. Art exists in addition to language; expression of sensations and thoughts, revealing a way of thinking too subtle and delicate for words.

For me art requires love, honesty and perseverance. In return, it reveals some personal, non-analyzable, and creative untamed passion. For the public, art with its magnificent beauty, improves mood and health and builds better human beings and communities. It engages the intellect, softens the heart, strengthens the soul and frees the spirit.

That is a nice dairy with photographs, Your dogs are really funny, seems like you never get bored with them the last picture of dog looking through a window looks so cute :)

As to egg shells that reminded me on what I did in the past when decorating a bottle turning the bottle into a castle I used the shells for the stone wall. The bottle still not colored yet as acrylic colors but as spray should be used and I still had not time for that.

Sounds like a good plan with those shells though. You'll eventually find the time.

Thanks for reading this silly post. I NEVER get bored with them and have a phone full of pictures. He was adorable looking out through that window. I always wonder what his thoughts are at times like those.
