Take at the Right Time (Picking Rimbang Fruit)

Hi everyone, how was your day? I hope you have a great day. Today after finishing my final project on campus, my friend and I decided to take the matoa fruit that was bearing fruit in the backyard of the campus. As usual, when the matoa on campus start to bear fruit, we will quickly hunt them down just for snacks because anyone can take the fruit. Sometimes if we don't pick it up on time, we will not get a share to enjoy the matoa fruit. We only took a few because the trees that bear fruit are very tall, and the fruit is also at the top. so we can only take a few that are at the bottom.

After coming home from campus, I offered my friend to take the rimbang fruit that thrives next to my boarding house. This shady tree grows wild and bears heavy fruit along with vegetable crops planted by the boarding house owner. This rimbang fruit is free to be taken by anyone who wants to take i. The trees and fruit grow too much in this area. If the rimbang is not taken regularly, the young will become old, and the old will no longer be good for consumption. So I offered my friend to pick it up for him to cook at home. This is not the first time she has taken this rimbang fruit because the rimbang tree bears fruit periodically. Not many like to eat rimbang fruit, which makes the rimbang fruit grow old until it rots on the tree. That's why I offered my friend to take it so she could make a delicious dish.

What is that rimbang fruit?

rimbang fruit or commonly called cepokak is a plant that has a bitter taste, which is usually cooked or mixed with other dishes. Rimbang itself is a kind of bush plant that has thorns on each stem except for the fruit. The texture of the rimbang fruit itself almost tastes like eggplant but with smaller sizes like marbles with a green color. Because the taste is slightly more bitter, many do not like to eat this fruit. In the past, my cousin liked to eat this fruit to make vegetables. she said rimbang has many health benefits, one of which is to restore eye health. I also like to eat this fruit, but I prefer to eat it when it's cooked and mixed with other dishes that make the rimbang taste less bitter.

This afternoon I tried to help pick rimbang fruit that was growing well for my friend. It feels good to be able to pick fruits or vegetables directly because it reminds me of my hometown even though after picking, my body feels itchy because this rimbang tree has fine hairs on the tree, leaves, and around the fruit. Quite a lot, we got about a plastic full of rimbang fruit, and I think my friend will be so full to eat all of it.

Thank you for reading my post. I hope you have a nice day and always be fine. Stay safe and keep healthy.

"Rimbang" has great benefits. My mom still consumes these fruit now for her health.

Anyway, don't forget to try to make the engagement with others in the community. So you can get to know others too and seeing what the new things and maybe can be useful for your life, who knows :)
